I find granite tops too solid too bang their head against. So laminate for that.

But, if you poor a bit of oil on a granite surface the results are fantastic for frictionless back and forth.

here in Estonia, most women are happy if you have any kitchen, and are less materialistic. laminate doesn't matter

I prefer laminate - much more practical.

I do too. Rocks for countertops break dishes if you put it down quickly. Laminate gives a bit, and it's a lot cheaper and easier to replace when/if necessary.

Kitchens are just a place to make stuff and eat. NBD.

Granite is out with the gals. Now they want white 'carrera marble countertops' , but can be easily fooled by quartz, which looks identical but obviously cheaper.

Cabinet color has also changed from espresso a few years ago, now to white. Used to be white cabinets made you look like a cheapskate designer, but chicks want it all white now.

Back splash is also now white, subway tiles.

So, if you want to get laid as a single male, rip out those $10k granite countertops, and paint your espresso cabinets white, and don't forget the subway white tiles for the backs splash tile. You're also going to need a sunken white porcelain 'farm' sink, with copper faucets.

Good news for those stuck in the 70's who haven't upgraded their appliances is that avocado is now back in style, so keep your green oven and fridge!

If that is what she is worried about, you can ditch her now!!

Synthetic quartz, imho, is a better choice that granite.

Granite is stained by anything, even water. It’s brittle, and can be chipped from dropping pots or pans. Because it’s brittle, it’s often used in thicker pieces than quartz, which can lead to extra weight causing a decent cabinet install to shift and settle over time.

Quartz isn’t perfect either, but given the fact that you’ll spend as much or more money on granite, only to have a water bottle leave a ring that will never come out, I’ll pick quartz.

But shit, you can change out your countertop every year for ten years for the same cost if you get laminate......

Granite is porous. It's not sanitary and can't be used in a commercial kitchen.

All the bad little bugs wiggle their way into the stuff.

But you have to admit that it is fun to place a hot pyrex glass cookware on bare granite countertops! BOOM!

Well you must be well to do if you can afford granite. It does look beautiful.. I like it alot, but like I said, I wouldnt dump any man over not having it.

If you have laminate, then never ever expect to get anal. They just won’t.
They want that granite before they hoist that chocolate starfish into mounting position.
In Canada, most of us just have plywood or 2x4 wood counters and we can barely get a sloppy hand job most times. Sad, really. The feeling of rough and dried out old woman dishwasher hands is awful. But when you got full balls you gotta take what you can get.
So do yourself a favour, get the granite.
