Baldrick User ID: 76902609 Australia 03/26/2019 05:20 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I find granite tops too solid too bang their head against. So laminate for that. But, if you poor a bit of oil on a granite surface the results are fantastic for frictionless back and forth. Everything in life is a compromise. Ive been in many kitchens. Blackadder: Baldrick, how did you manage to find a turnip that cost £400 000? Baldrick: Well, I had to haggle. |

Looks like wood. not wood. good condition and clean. Quoting: no granite 77501254 It wasn't always that way - way back in 2000 , in the USA, I had a giant kitchen with SLABS of thick granite. Here in Eastern Europe, its ok to have laminate Just wondering - in the USA , is it even possible to score with the babes if you don't have some kind of stone counter top? I realize that in San Fran, to even score a date with a 5/10 it takes a 250k salary, 100k car, and series B Is a laminate top a deal breaker? Only in California. That's true. I know because I ran a countertop business. |
thanks (OP) User ID: 77501254 Estonia 03/26/2019 01:03 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | There are different grades of granite. Quoting: MissCleo Classic Semi-Exotic Exotic Rare. Classic in the US is boring now. Deal breaker? What? Are you trying to buy a woman? Is this like a dowrey? Back in the day a relationship was based on cooperation. thanks for all the great replies, I appreciate it here in Estonia, most women are happy if you have any kitchen, and are less materialistic. laminate doesn't matter no need to buy a woman of interest though, for the modern day woman or women, if you think of it , her youth is her dowry, and once you use it all up , they are worthless. most in USA use it up in an obscene manner laminates for the win , FTW , thanks all |

Laminate gives a bit, and it's a lot cheaper and easier to replace when/if necessary. Kitchens are just a place to make stuff and eat. NBD. Garages are where it's at! |

all knowing alpha User ID: 77433535 United States 03/26/2019 02:06 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Granite is out with the gals. Now they want white 'carrera marble countertops' , but can be easily fooled by quartz, which looks identical but obviously cheaper. Cabinet color has also changed from espresso a few years ago, now to white. Used to be white cabinets made you look like a cheapskate designer, but chicks want it all white now. Back splash is also now white, subway tiles. So, if you want to get laid as a single male, rip out those $10k granite countertops, and paint your espresso cabinets white, and don't forget the subway white tiles for the backs splash tile. You're also going to need a sunken white porcelain 'farm' sink, with copper faucets. Good news for those stuck in the 70's who haven't upgraded their appliances is that avocado is now back in style, so keep your green oven and fridge! |

Jough-Henery User ID: 1812489 United States 03/26/2019 02:26 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Synthetic quartz, imho, is a better choice that granite. Granite is stained by anything, even water. It’s brittle, and can be chipped from dropping pots or pans. Because it’s brittle, it’s often used in thicker pieces than quartz, which can lead to extra weight causing a decent cabinet install to shift and settle over time. Quartz isn’t perfect either, but given the fact that you’ll spend as much or more money on granite, only to have a water bottle leave a ring that will never come out, I’ll pick quartz. But shit, you can change out your countertop every year for ten years for the same cost if you get laminate...... *INTJ* If life is so short, why do we do so many things we don’t like and like so many things we don’t do? Who keeps leaving egg related karma?? Why? |

all knowing alpha User ID: 77433535 United States 03/26/2019 02:40 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Granite is porous. It's not sanitary and can't be used in a commercial kitchen. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77116830 All the bad little bugs wiggle their way into the stuff. But you have to admit that it is fun to place a hot pyrex glass cookware on bare granite countertops! BOOM! They want that granite before they hoist that chocolate starfish into mounting position. In Canada, most of us just have plywood or 2x4 wood counters and we can barely get a sloppy hand job most times. Sad, really. The feeling of rough and dried out old woman dishwasher hands is awful. But when you got full balls you gotta take what you can get. So do yourself a favour, get the granite. |
