I'm sure we have all pretty much witnessed it. Someone comes 'into something' (ie so called money), and they completely change. It is not them that have changed, it is a 'thing' that took over them that is beyond their control. It might be greed, or lust or envy or whatever. For all of the money we supposedly spend on that crap, do you think that, if they found something in space that was going to wipe us out, that they would even tell us?

We paid for that equipment, they should have to let us see it all.

My father worked on mega projects in the netherlands back in the 60s and 70s, helping to engineer new dikes and dams, and replacing old ones, a big nation wide project.

He moved to the U.S. for a few years in 1976 (until 1979) and would never tell the family precisely what he did over there, other than mention that it was engineering work for the U.S. and involved work on a large project.

One night back in the 1990s during a long conversation I asked him about his work in the U.S. back in the 70s, and he mentioned something about building an underground city with subway tunnels than connected to bases and other underground cities being built. He avoided most of the detailed questions I asked him.

At the time I was thinking this had something to do with the US military and the cold war, that he was using his engineering capacity to help design and build military bunkers.

Now I'm not so sure. When he said they built underground cities, I assumed he meant underground bunkers or towns for the military. But a small underground bunker would not need subway tunnels. The whole episode is a strange one and I can imagine it must be extremely expensive to built an actual city underground.

When he finally permanently returned to the Netherlands in 1979 he bought our family a big new house, new car, and we spent nearly a month traveling Europe, and also spent a week in Miami Florida. Whatever he did in the U.S., he was paid very well.
