Terentius Afer User ID: 72858512 United States 04/03/2019 05:41 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | My fiance and I were out for a walk on a nature trail over the weekend and I saw something glimmering in the woods when the sun passed through the trees. I approached the area and it took a little time to find where it was coming from, but I eventually found it. There was a tree limb and around one of it’s small branches was a ring. To me, it looked like a perfect place to put a ring if you stopped there to wash your hands or whatever task that called for taking a ring off and placing it somewhere. The ring was pretty fancy, and it has a pretty big diamond on it with smaller diamonds set around it. I have a friend who’s mom works in a jewelry store and she confirmed that it is real and worth quite a bit, in fact, it’s an astonishing amount. Now here’s where things get murky. My first thought was to find it’s owner, and I figured it would be a pretty simple task since I highly doubt it just landed on that limb by accident; however, my fiance proclaims that would be a pure nightmare since anyone could claim it’ as theirs and try to swindle me for ownership. She thinks I should just sell it and keep the money. The ring has no inscription and the diamond isn’t marked or logged by a laser. Last night my fiance and I had an argument about the whole ordeal and it’s starting to make me feel uncomfortable even having it in my possession much less keeping money from an object that has already brought disarray into our lives. We aren’t rich people, and the money would absolutely change our lives, but I also hate to think there is someone out there being tortured by the loss of this thing. On another note, I’ve never seen my fiance act this way, and because it’s due to gaining this money, which isn’t technically even ours to begin with...it’s kind of bothering me even more. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 27648869 What should I do? find the owner of it. if you can't find the owner, then sell it. or you can just sell it and boot the wife and get some hookers instead |

My husband made the insurance claim, it was in process. While vacuuming, I found it. So we went back and fourth, do we take the insurance payout or call them. We’re never the kind of folks to cheat at anything, so we called and told them to cancel the claim. The guy on the phone laughed at my husband, said no one has ever called back to say they found their diamond after making a claim. After this experience, if I were you, I’d sell the ring. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 69639166 United States 04/03/2019 06:27 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | You are right...try to find its owner...when I was broke and living in a freaking motel , I found a wallet at walmart stuffed with money, four hundred bucks plus bank cards....i knew immediately i couldnt live with myself if I kept it...I called a lady's number in it and it was the owners grandma...she was so relieved and in full panic mode...she was working there jobs just to make ends meet and bills due. ....another time , also in a Wal-Mart, my kids and i found two hundred dollar bills on the floor...I heard a guy talking about losing them to an employee, and I kept it anyway. ...I will never forgive myself for it...it may have belonged to him...years later, I still feel guilt.place a found ad in your local paper, social media,etc...make anyone claiming its theirs tell you the exact spot you found it in...make them describe it in full detail....do not include any details in your ads...only the person who left it there will know. You will love yourself for it later...and while you're at it, perhaps reevaluate your relationship with your girlfriend. ....is that the type of woman you really want to be with? You are a good person, I'm proud of you. Life is filled with little tests sometimes, it really is! If nobody claims it after six months, maybe save it someplace safe, place an ad once in a while...don't give up. Someone's heart is surely broken over this loss. Pray for guidance to find the owner. This good deed will come back to you. |
