Much of the dollar's value is based on being the world's #1 reserve currency. Even if oil trade with SA continues to drop, SA trade with other nations will continue. If SA followed through on their threat, other OPEC countries would follow SA's lead.

For dropping the dollar on oil trades or any other reason, the U.S. can
very easily overthrow / undermine / remove the House of Saud without
much effort.

And for those not paying attention, Saudi Arabia now has their first
nuclear power plant ready to come online.

This will make a nice target at the appropriate time.

Probably explains why SA want Russian S-400

To some countries the US may seem weak, stretched thin, broke and disinterested in long protracted wars. So it emboldens some of these pretty weak countries and some other countries with more larger war machines, namely places like China.

However make no mistake, the US would still mop the floor with any country in a total war scenario, which has not been seen since WW 2.

They know that as well and do not envision the US ever getting involved in that again but you never know.

The American people have been gunning for a major victory for over 70 years. The first Gulf War was a tiny taste of that and to some degree, the immediate aftermath of Iraq in 2003 not to mention the routing of the Taliban in 2001.

Erm, Pretty sure Iraq and Afghanistan wars were COALITIONS.

I don't recall a single war the US has won all on its own !

They HAVE nukes ... they paid for Pakistan's nuke program and now they have Pakistan "storing" their share of the nukes that were built for them.

All it takes is a simple phone call to Pakistan and VOILA! Nukes available for pickup (in fact that may have been what happened back in late Feb with the SA military Gulfstream making a quick round trip to Pakistan)
