Re: The US should apologize to Europe for still having military bases there 75 years after WWII.
Not only is it insulting to Europeans by implicating that they need endless babysitting, it has caused entire generations of Europeans to accept foreigners on their soil. Not good.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77512185

I agree, but for different reasons. I think it is long overdue for Europe to protect itself. I think we ought to immediately close ALL our bases in every European country, bring home ALL our troops and equipment - leaving NOTHING pre-positioned or stored anywhere in Europe.

Aside from reduced population and air traffic, the first thing Europeans will notice is the severe downturn in local commerce. Business will dry up in areas surrounding US Bases. No more money.

The next thing Europeans notice will be a 50-75% tax increase to cover all that lost economic activity and to pay for THEIR OWN military!

Yes, I'm sure the Europeans will be very happy about that; but not nearly as happy as I will be to have my troops back home.
 Quoting: NYC-Beat Reporter

This is biggest misconception Americans have about US army in Europe. There's about 55.000 American personel in Germany, in rest of Europe the number is much smaller. Do you guys really think that 60k people significantly influence German economy? German economy is 80 million people strong, your 60k personel is drop in a ocean when it comes to building up German economy. Only ones having benefits are towns/cities where US bases are located. And even in these towns, with the good old German ingenuity they got business running that is independent of the local base in their town. Its freaking Germany ffs, they will make money out of nothing given the urgency.

I would imagine in every town US base is located there is strong middle sized companies doing their thing. Sure some business would take a hit but nothing that would be felt on national level, only in the towns US bases are located. That is peanuts compared to whole German economy.

Reading comments like yours a person get a feeling whole Germany economy is reliant on US military presence. How haughty. All these towns would recover in two years. Lack of American soldiers spending money is the least of the problem and is not an issue at all.

I don't understand what you ment with reduced population as well if Amercians leave. 60k soldiers and families of personel will reduce population? Get real.

They'd rather have Middle Eastern immigrants? Is that what you're trying to say?

What's your problem? Oh wait, you're a muzzie? Now I get it!
 Quoting: nutmeg

Let me explain, No, we would not rather have muzz.

But, once US army leaves and let be honest America is doing nothing to prevent influx of invaders. But once American army leaves, room open for Russians and you can beat that Russian influence in Europe the way Americans have it would keep the muzz away. Not with their army but it will open room for close political cooperation. Once Russia and Europe comes to terms on joint political and ideological guidelines then muzz in Europe will not be welcomed anymore.

60k is a lot of people for the US to support. And a lot of paychecks. However, the real cost benefits to Europe is not having to pay for their own defense.

We understand the basics of it, the question is is it a good thing for those European countries to lose the ability and desire to protect themselves.

Read the thread. Would Europe prefer to be overrun by NAZIs or Soviets or muslims and africans? Seems like the Soviet controlled areas of eastern Europe are much happier these days than the western occupied Europe is. Poland, Czech Republic, etc, do not allow their countries to be overrun with "immigrants." And the Soviets left, unlike the Americans.

Neutering an entire continent by defending them for three entire generations cannot be good. They no longer know how to defend themselves.

LOL they WANT the US there to help defend them against anything remotely like what happened in WW2 with more than one country taking them over and being military occupied

Not even close to the same thing.

The only people who were upset were Japan and Germany.

However both countries changed their tune when the marxist China and USSR took over or attempted takeover

We are there to contain Germany. It was Germany that has been the aggressor for the past century.

If they unite with Russia in a rapprochment then Europe is screwed. So we are there to keep them sorted and in their own playgrounds. And to keep them as enemies of each other.

History shows that 75 years of German occupation is not nearly enough. Look what happened the last time we went home.
They have proven to need a very long term babysitter.
 Quoting: dodger007

actually America built up Germany as a bulwark against the Russians and funded German nationalist projects through investors like Henry Ford. Once you had an excuse to visit Europe (and saw the richness of culture you'll never witness on your own soil) your leaders decided never to leave and have been terrorising the world ever since. US had been cucked by Zionism J-ews and the Vatican Masonic Lodges with the stubborn British Royal Anglo-Saxons, by casting pearls before swine and breeding unholy dogs now populated at 52% of the world.

But then again, did you actually bought the Zionist lies that Son of Man came from Monkeys with the Sons of Ape that had been spliced by Martians and Monkeys?.

Where the common sense gone?.
