Not only is it insulting to Europeans by implicating that they need endless babysitting, it has caused entire generations of Europeans to accept foreigners on their soil. Not good.

I think we ought to immediately close ALL our bases in every European country, bring home ALL our troops and equipment - leaving NOTHING pre-positioned or stored anywhere in Europe. Aside from reduced population and air traffic, the first thing Europeans will notice is the severe downturn in local commerce. Business will dry up in areas surrounding US Bases. No more money. The next thing Europeans notice will be a 50-75% tax increase to cover all that lost economic activity and to pay for THEIR OWN military! Yes, I'm sure the Europeans will be very happy about that; but not nearly as happy as I will be to have my troops back home.
