Give it a year and then decide on a big move. Everyone should live in Hawaii at least once in their life. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 75187366 Rents are high in Maui. 1000 for a room. 300 a night in a hotel. I was planning to camp. So you're homeless? Hawaii has enough homeless and don't need any more. |

They lasted a little over a year there. they just moved back to N. Idaho. Island fever big time, all they want now is to see trees and huge stretches of forrest lol. Like above poster said, try it first and see if its for you before you uproot your whole life |

If you don’t have the means to live there don’t go. Hawaii has enough bums. They camp in the forest and get scabies. |

Plus, it was always too hot for me and back then there wasn't much air conditioning. I wouldn't want to move back. Did I mention that it was Very Expensive. I don't have the time or the crayons to explain this to you. Slake Blake |

The water is cleaner. Seems like a no brainer. If the slump finally sloughs off Hawaii you will need to be a very good swimmer/surfer. Anonymous Coward User ID: 77046724 United States 05/20/2019 02:33 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Very soon a two mile high wall of seawater will wash repeatedly over the island chains all over the world and flush all of the trappings of civilization out into and under the sea. Buy a boat. Park it in Idaho. When the crustal displacement occurs you may survive. Put your boat into the new ocean just off the Idaho Coast...and sail for some now deserted island. Stake a claim. Word has it that Idaho will end up near the earth where Florida is now. So save your orange pits because spuds don't grow so well in Florida. Some do of course. IDAHO...possible, even probable survival of crustal shift. HAWAII...0, zilch, nadda, chance of suvival. |

Beer, corn flakes, etc. A lot of folks who go there find themselves working 2-3 part time jobs in paradise just to make ends meet. A return ticket is a must so when you go broke you can get back to the mainland. "Socialism only works in two places: Heaven where they don't need it and hell, where they already have it." The water is cleaner. Seems like a no brainer. Unless you're really into Reeces, and Spam, the food isn't any better. And you'll pay triple for it. I know people who grew up on Maui. They don't wanna live there. If you're white, the locals won't want you to live there either. If you go, I hope your rich. Even if you are, it's gonna get boring really quickly. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 71593998 United States 05/20/2019 05:29 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | If you are extraordinarily wealthy, go for it. If not, don't do it. If you are white, you are hated with a ferocity that is beyond words. Once you get out of the nice areas to where people actually live and work, it's like being in a slum. The locals and natives are dumber than any group of people I've ever encountered. And if you are lucky enough to live in a nicer area, you have to deal with the tourists. I had been visiting Maui every summer for twenty years before I made the leap, and I was back on the mainland within six months. |
