He's been playing too nice with the Chinese since getting elected. I'm glad to see him speak up again. China would roll right over the Filipinos in a NYC minute. He needs to figure out quickly who his real friends are. Trump is not Obama and Trump and Duterte are a lot alike. They should be simpatico Duterte hated "son of a whore" Obama so much, he took the bait from China. Probably thought Hitlary was going to become president too in 2016. When President Trump took office, Duterte regretted his earlier decision as Trump speaks his mind (the truth) unlike so many other politicians Yes, China could roll over Philippines, but that would be the end of China. US has Andersen AFB on Guam, Kadena AFB on Okinawa. US Navy currently has LHA-1 strike group with MEU aboard in South China Sea. US also has "other" assets here in the Philippines. All those artificial island bases China built would be gone and Chinese supply line cutoff. US subs would pick off the Chinese fleet within a couple of weeks. Japan, ROK, Taiwan and probably even Vietnam would all join US counter attack and liberate the Philippines within a few months. As Gen. MacArthur once said, give me 10,000 Fighting Filipinos and I could conquer the world. We do not have the horses nor equipment needed to actually win this. War is about production. They have it.. We lost it and shipped it offshore. Used chips made in foreign lands in secret equipment. Don't be surprised when they can turn it off at will. Bingo
