I've had Chesapeake bay retrievers. They are NOT one of the most affectionate breed of dogs. Chesapeake's were bred to be retrievers and GUARD DOGS. They would guard the duck boats at night when the hunters would go to bars and get drunk. They normally attach to one person and are loyal and protective of that person. That is "loyalty" not "affection". Their temperament is not anything like a Labrador retriever's temperament. They are truly the definition of "knuckle heads". |
