A group of them talking crow smack and munching. And suddenly at 40 mph and within two feet they burst off airborne.. amazing.. Quoting: RichardHead Hard to say without a picture... There's never a dull moment here on planet earth, unless GLP ceased to exist... Oh, and Biden can't dress himself.... |

Lily o' the Valley User ID: 77161354 United States 04/10/2019 12:57 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Probably not blackbirds that you see, most like likely crows scavenging. But anyway blackbirds are about the size of a robin, many of them have a red band on their wing. Blackbirds like to get into large flocks and swoop and dive together, especially the ones with no red band. Most likely crows, which are a little bigger than a robin. Sometimes you will see several crows together, even working together. Ravens are BIG birds, maybe the size of a small cat (less the tail length.) Ravens are more solitary. Blackbirds like to live near the water. Crows do well in town around people, though they live in the country and do well around farms and ranches. Ravens like meadows and fields. At least the ones around here do. *** Good deeds bring rewards, bad actions bring troubles. That is a law of the universe. *** |

LOL Because my mother was a bird watcher and a school teacher both? I'm sorry, but the slightest thought of being a school teacher has always made me shudder. There are a lot of them in my family, so maybe it has rubbed off? Maybe I sound like a school teacher? Oh well, just another one of life's enduring mysteries, I suppose. *** Good deeds bring rewards, bad actions bring troubles. That is a law of the universe. *** |

In any case, the crow came to a dead stop at the side of the car. We were on about 60 klm/hr, and it flew in at a 90 deg. angle. That kind of flying is expected down here from pissed rainbow lorikeets, but not crows. Didn't stop for those feathers. |
