MONOMANIA AND FANATICAL BIBLE BELIEVERS
They are the most frightened people I have ever observed — Terrified is a better word. I try to help them and one of them callled me SATAN the other day. Neoreactionary deletes always — there.

I say what I mean, mean what I say and don’t say it mean. Sometimes it’s tough love, sometimes it’s soft. But it’s always Love.

Monomania - monomania

n. Pathological obsession with one idea or subject.

n. Intent concentration on or exaggerated enthusiasm for a single subject or idea.

Re: MONOMANIA AND FANATICAL BIBLE BELIEVERS
Monomania

Partial insanity, variations of which enjoyed a long pre-history in jurisprudence, was in contrast to the traditional notion of total insanity, exemplified in the diagnosis of mania, as a global condition affecting all aspects of understanding and which reflected the position that the mind or soul was an indivisible entity.

Coined by the French psychiatrist Jean Étienne Dominique Esquirol (1772–1840) around 1810, monomania was a new disease-concept characterised by the presence of an expansive fixed-idea in which the mind was diseased and deranged in some facets but otherwise normal in others.

Esquirol and his circle described three broad categories of monomania consistent with their traditional three-part classification of the mind into intellectual, emotional and volitional faculties.

Emotional monomania is that in which the patient is obsessed with only one emotion or several related to it; intellectual monomania is that which is related to only one kind of delirious idea or ideas. Although monomania was retained as one of seven recognized categories of mental illness in the 1880 US census, its importance as a psychiatric diagnostic category was in decline from the mid-19th century.

People are ill dying — some very old. Some Christians are very concerned with the believe or non belief system of their loved ones. And if they are not of the Christian faith they are concerned that they’re going to burn in hell. They believe that if one is not a Jevv or a Christian they are hell bound. This is so wrong. I posted some near death experiences from NDERF and tried to comfort them. She deleted the post — she’s Very fragile, it makes me sad.

There were a variety of other belief systems included— agnostics, Hindus, Native Americans, et. al.

Just from what and how you have made your statement shows that you do not know anything about Christianity or the Bible.

Please read the Bible and then come back and let us have this same discussion.

You condemn Christianity by what you see the people who say they are followers of do.

I have also read the koran and it's followers do what is in it. So we need not try to use this statement in that direction.

Re: MONOMANIA AND FANATICAL BIBLE BELIEVERS
OP - I get where you are coming from, but I also understand where these other people are coming from too.
It is a times of death where people who have strong faith feel even more connected to GOD and their belief system.
They are concerned for their unsaved loved ones because they love them and want to share their faith with them.
I've studied many religions, and to me Christianity not only makes the most sense but seems to tie everything together in a logical way. Not to mention I've had some prayers answered that were pretty amazing. You may not believe in GOD but He is real.
I understand that you do not feel the same way and I am not trying to convert you, I am just giving you 'my story'.

Christianity has a lot of ties with Judaism because Jesus was Jewish and he was the fulfillment of much of the prophecy in the OT.
Mankind has lost their way and Jesus was sent to teach the world of GOD and eventually die to pay for the sins of those who would accept it.
Anyway - some people get really touchy about their faith, especially when someone close to them dies or is near death. My brother died 2 years ago and some of my family ties were strained because of different beliefs. But we are all still family.
Don't take what they say too hard, and also try and understand their side too.
Peace.

Thank you for your response.

Remember the thread title and the definions of monomania. I know many Christians who are not fanatics — however this affliction is rampant here.

The Bible, quoting it incessesantly, doom, death, destruction — This is mostly what they focus their energy upon. I have never seen such unrelenting negativity in my life.

According to Jesus He was “sent to save none but the Lost Sheep of the House of israel” — the Jevvs — and free them from the negative influences of their tribal dictator — the LORD god of Isreal — and in doing so save THE GENTILES/PAGANS from his negative influences as well. Unfortunately for all of us he only succeeded partially. Fact.

HIS ONLY COMMAND WAS TO LOVE ONE ANOTHER. They can’t even follow this one command!

Definition of save - rescue from harm.

I agree with some of what you have said but disagree with some as well. In the end it all comes down to mercy. Jesus had mercy on the criminal who was crucified along side him and promised he would see him in paradise.
At the day of reckoning, I belive that many will be surprised at who receives mercy and who does not.

Re: MONOMANIA AND FANATICAL BIBLE BELIEVERS
Does conscious life continue for a person after the spirit leaves the body?

Ps. 146:4: “His spirit [Hebrew, from ruach] goes out, he goes back to his ground; in that day his thoughts do perish.” (NAB, Ro, Yg, and Dy [145:4] here render ruach as “spirit.” Some translations say “breath.”) (Also Psalm 104:29)

What is the origin of Christendom’s belief in an immaterial, immortal soul?

“The Christian concept of a spiritual soul created by God and infused into the body at conception to make man a living whole is the fruit of a long development in Christian philosophy. Only with Origen [died c. 254 C.E.] in the East and St. Augustine [died 430 C.E.] in the West was the soul established as a spiritual substance and a philosophical concept formed of its nature. . . . His [Augustine’s] doctrine . . . owed much (including some shortcomings) to Neoplatonism.”—New Catholic Encyclopedia (1967), Vol. XIII, pp. 452, 454.

The concept of immortality is a product of Greek thinking, whereas the hope of a *resurrection* belongs to Jewish thought. . . . Following Alexander’s conquests Judaism gradually absorbed Greek concepts.”—Dictionnaire Encyclopédique de la Bible (Valence, France; 1935), edited by Alexandre Westphal, Vol. 2, p. 557.

“Immortality of the soul is a Greek notion formed in ancient mystery cults and elaborated by the philosopher Plato.”—Presbyterian Life, May 1, 1970, p. 35.

“Do we believe that there is such a thing as death? . . . Is it not the separation of soul and body? And to be dead is the completion of this; when the soul exists in herself, and is released from the body and the body is released from the soul, what is this but death? . . . And does the soul admit of death? No. Then the soul is immortal? Yes.”—Plato’s “Phaedo,” Secs. 64, 105, as published in Great Books of the Western World (1952), edited by R. M. Hutchins, Vol. 7, pp. 223, 245, 246.

“The problem of immortality, we have seen, engaged the serious attention of the Babylonian theologians. . . . Neither the people nor the leaders of religious thought ever faced the possibility of the total annihilation of what once was called into existence. Death was a passage to another kind of life.”—The Religion of Babylonia and Assyria (Boston, 1898), M. Jastrow, Jr., p. 556.

The words recorded at Isaiah 47:8 are quoted in the book of Revelation and given a future application.

There the Bible foretells the end of the harlotlike organization called “Babylon the Great”—the world empire of false religion. (Revelation 16:19)

The designation “Babylon” for the false religions of the world is appropriate, since it was in ancient Babylon that false religion got its start.

From there it spread to the four corners of the earth. (Genesis 11:1-9)

Religious doctrines that originated in Babylon, such as the immortality of the soul, hellfire, and the worship of triune gods, are shared by virtually all religions, including Christendom.

The Babylonians engaged in goddess worship as did others as well. The Hopi Indians have the snake as the symbol for Mother Earth.

Seems to me the Adam and Eve Tale that is offered in the Bible is a carefully crafted myth by the Levite Preists to put women in their “place” once for all by curseing the Goddess - the Serpent was the symbol for the goddess of knowledge and wisdom.

What are you saying to Christians to make them upset?
And why?

People are ill dying — some very old. Some Christians are very concerned with the believe or non belief system of their loved ones. And if they are not of the Christian faith they are concerned that they’re going to burn in hell. They believe that if one is not a Jevv or a Christian they are hell bound. This is so wrong. I posted some near death experiences from NDERF and tried to comfort them. She deleted the post — she’s Very fragile, it makes me sad.

There were a variety of other belief systems included— agnostics, Hindus, Native Americans, et. al.

There is no religion in Heaven and God is Love.

So true. But don’t concern yourself about it so much. They will learn better when they get to the afterlife and can laugh at themselves for being so mistaken. There are a lot sadder things going on the world to be sad about than strong believers.

Thank you for your enlightened post. Your first sentence is spot on!

Most if not all of the “sadder things going on” lead back to ONE THING — RELIGION — and it’s effects on the populace whether directly or indirectly. A bit of pondering will confirm this observation. Politics and religion are bloodthirsty brothers as well — pun intended.

The soul/spirit is Homesick. The lack of Knowledge of the truth is everywhere. Organized Religions have for the most part failed miserably in their mission to inform, comfort and guide. They have become “businesses” run by personality driven egomaniac avaricious power hungry men who crave recognition and accolades from their “audience” — for a price. “Gimme money I’ll save your soul”.

The word Petri dish just popped into mind. I dunno.
