Re: MONOMANIA AND FANATICAL BIBLE BELIEVERS
So what's your story?
What are you saying to Christians to make them upset?
And why?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77554961

People are ill dying — some very old. Some Christians are very concerned with the believe or non belief system of their loved ones. And if they are not of the Christian faith they are concerned that they’re going to burn in hell. They believe that if one is not a Jevv or a Christian they are hell bound. This is so wrong. I posted some near death experiences from NDERF and tried to comfort them. She deleted the post — she’s Very fragile, it makes me sad.

There were a variety of other belief systems included— agnostics, Hindus, Native Americans, et. al.

There is no religion in Heaven and God is Love.

Just from what and how you have made your statement shows that you do not know anything about Christianity or the Bible.

Please read the Bible and then come back and let us have this same discussion.

You condemn Christianity by what you see the people who say they are followers of do.

I have also read the koran and it's followers do what is in it. So we need not try to use this statement in that direction.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77448138

The Bible is a book written by men who were clueless about EVERYTHING.

It brainwashes people and puts their hearts in minds in a slave prison while it tells them they are being "set free".

More than that it causes nearly all of its victims to have a completely warped view of their fellow man, nature and reality in general.

I was a fundamentalist believer for a long time... obsessed with the book of Revelation and Daniel and Matthew and other texts. Expecting Jesus to call us into the sky like a sci fi movie at any second.

Half the time i felt like i wanted to save as many souls as possible and the other half i was gleefully wanting their destruction.

Until one day about around 2011.... when i was literally under my desk at work balling my eyes out for all the common people that would be suffering for eternity.

When i kid you not... out of no where... a very quiet voice in the middle of the crazy said.. "what if im not like that"..

That was the beginning of the end of my fundamentalism.

Great contribution, thank you for posting! And Welcome back!!

I was never a fundamentalist but I had MY MOMENT as well.

The fundamentalists believe they have a monopoly on the afterlife. lol

Without their threats of “hells and abominations” — which they hurl upon others Ad nauseam with complete impunity — their “smallness” becomes very apparent to them and this frightens them although it should not.

The words recorded at Isaiah 47:8 are quoted in the book of Revelation and given a future application.

There the Bible foretells the end of the harlotlike organization called “Babylon the Great”—the world empire of false religion. (Revelation 16:19)

The designation “Babylon” for the false religions of the world is appropriate, since it was in ancient Babylon that false religion got its start.

From there it spread to the four corners of the earth. (Genesis 11:1-9)

Religious doctrines that originated in Babylon, such as the immortality of the soul, hellfire, and the worship of triune gods, are shared by virtually all religions, including Christendom.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77505643

The Babylonians engaged in goddess worship as did others as well. The Hopi Indians have the snake as the symbol for Mother Earth.

Seems to me the Adam and Eve Tale that is offered in the Bible is a carefully crafted myth by the Levite Preists to put women in their “place” once for all by curseing the Goddess - the Serpent was the symbol for the goddess of knowledge and wisdom.

Do you think the Levites are the source of all of that, because it sure isn't the God of any Bible I know.
Levites caused all the misogyny resulting from the "Pandora" story, as opposed to the actual Bible account of A .& E.?
Levites caused all the misogyny still so evident in phenomena like Chinese abortions, and Indian women throwing themselves on husband's funeral pyre [since they have no means of support, anyway, estate having passed directly to oldest son?].
NON- misogynist men, like Dr. Sadler, OTOH, 'generously' inform about the happy afterlife, making a short , painful death,[ being burned alive by your parents for instance, or drugged into paralysis while your organs are harvested for transplant] 'obviously' preferable to this vale of tears, right?

Moses and the Levites — YES. I will post later on the subject of Moses — Who he Was and What he Did.

The “Yahwehan” influence has spread everywhere — just wearing a different jacket. ‘Tis a bloodthirsty thing that is kept alive by the violent adrenaline producing shedding of blood via circumcision. Animal slaughter, Sacrifical wars and terrorist acts, abortion et al. This keeps it alive and it’s very obese at this moment — ready to burst forth. It is vampiric.

But let’s talk about the Androcentric Bible and the tribes....

Before Moses there were polytheistic societies that worshiped gods and goddesses. This system gave place to the patriarchal tribes of the proto-Israelites which were characterized by polygamy, a system that was marked by beastiality. In that system, women were in the condition of living merchandise, yet these ancient tendencies still prevail in some places either covertly or overtly. Aristotle bears witness to this when describing the attitude of the well to do tribes towards the questions women. He says that they kept legitimate wives to beget citizens according to the law, courtesans for pleasure, and concubines for daily use.

Commandments number 10 - according to scripture.

Deuteronomy 5

Thou shalt not desire thy neighbors PROPERTY - House (Real estate), Cattle (personal items) Male and Female Servent (slaves) and Wives (Breeders of “legitimate citizens”).

Nothing is as it seems. BUT ITS ALL THERE IF ONE LOOKS.

Re: MONOMANIA AND FANATICAL BIBLE BELIEVERS
Does conscious life continue for a person after the spirit leaves the body?

Ps. 146:4: “His spirit [Hebrew, from ruach] goes out, he goes back to his ground; in that day his thoughts do perish.” (NAB, Ro, Yg, and Dy [145:4] here render ruach as “spirit.” Some translations say “breath.”) (Also Psalm 104:29)

What is the origin of Christendom’s belief in an immaterial, immortal soul?

“The Christian concept of a spiritual soul created by God and infused into the body at conception to make man a living whole is the fruit of a long development in Christian philosophy. Only with Origen [died c. 254 C.E.] in the East and St. Augustine [died 430 C.E.] in the West was the soul established as a spiritual substance and a philosophical concept formed of its nature. . . . His [Augustine’s] doctrine . . . owed much (including some shortcomings) to Neoplatonism.”—New Catholic Encyclopedia (1967), Vol. XIII, pp. 452, 454.

The concept of immortality is a product of Greek thinking, whereas the hope of a *resurrection* belongs to Jewish thought. . . . Following Alexander’s conquests Judaism gradually absorbed Greek concepts.”—Dictionnaire Encyclopédique de la Bible (Valence, France; 1935), edited by Alexandre Westphal, Vol. 2, p. 557.

“Immortality of the soul is a Greek notion formed in ancient mystery cults and elaborated by the philosopher Plato.”—Presbyterian Life, May 1, 1970, p. 35.

“Do we believe that there is such a thing as death? . . . Is it not the separation of soul and body? And to be dead is the completion of this; when the soul exists in herself, and is released from the body and the body is released from the soul, what is this but death? . . . And does the soul admit of death? No. Then the soul is immortal? Yes.”—Plato’s “Phaedo,” Secs. 64, 105, as published in Great Books of the Western World (1952), edited by R. M. Hutchins, Vol. 7, pp. 223, 245, 246.

“The problem of immortality, we have seen, engaged the serious attention of the Babylonian theologians. . . . Neither the people nor the leaders of religious thought ever faced the possibility of the total annihilation of what once was called into existence. Death was a passage to another kind of life.”—The Religion of Babylonia and Assyria (Boston, 1898), M. Jastrow, Jr., p. 556.

For My yoke is easy and My burden is light."

That’s a good one but there is no evidence it belongs to Yahweh.

The Bible is a compilation of many different ancient belief systems.

Some beneficent — some malevolent.

It’s a mixed bag.

False.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77558580

I disagree.

Hf

I have read it and I have observed Abrahamic theologian authorship and leadership through the ages as well.

Why is Matthew 23 not given much attention by fundamentalist Christians? FEAR.

It being a publication dictated by an evil alien dictator is far more likely.

One cannot infuse the OT with the NT — Oil and Water.

OT “ for and her a tooth for a tooth vs. NT “Love one another”

And I don’t give a jot what the biblical apologists have to say on the matter.

The purpose of your thread was to trumpet yourself and your unbelief as better than me and my belief.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77558580

My purpose was to create a dialogue that was different from the typical dialogue that is offered here on the subject of one book.

You can leave any time. Furthrmore, you have very little idea with regard to my beliefs. But stick around, you might learn something.

Question everything.

So you don't like the god of the bible because your a wussy lady and you are not like him.so your angry and you try convince every one that likes him to not like him. And call names when they arnt interested in what you say. your a freak

Well excuse me for my abhorrence for violence, murder, greed, lying, bloodlust, and cursing half of the creation committed by an angry god.

The Negative actions and emotions of an evil deity < beget > negative actions and emotions by its followers in many cases.

Like attracts Like.

And they blame SATAN!

Maybe Yahweh is Satan - I dunno.

Ok i think i am building a picture here. The Negative actions and emotions of an evil deity < beget > negative actions and emotions by its followers in many cases. is fair enough but who are you associating it to. God declared us good, some other character said don't listen you wont die be as evil as you want. the result of that is what you seam angry about, i think your anger is directed in the wrong direction.
You blame God for the evil in the world when the one responsible is also claiming the titles god and lord.
What i would say to you is you should stop blaming and pointing fingers when you dont even know who you are blaming, those things you blame god for he didn't do. stop presuming and blaming, one thing our father in heaven the creator did is give us life that u can be sure of, your accusations you cant be, be very careful

Re: MONOMANIA AND FANATICAL BIBLE BELIEVERS
— FOR EVERYONE

In Personality: A Psychological Interpretation, Doctor Gordon Allport states the following regarding self-esteem:

“Whatever the ultimate character of this principle, its cruder forms of expression result in extraordinary strategies of conduct. It alone is responsible for a great super-structure of masquerade built up in every life. All in the interests of self-esteem one may cover one's true emotions, put on a front, and at considerable cost avoid exposing one's weaknesses. The persona that develops pro- tects one from unwelcome narcissistic wounds.

What is even more spectacular, likewise in the interest of self-esteem, is the capacity men have for deceiving themselves . . .

The techniques of self-deception are numerous. Psychological usage, groups them all under the single title of rationalization, a term signifying, of course, precisely the opposite of reason . . . Reason fits one's impulses and beliefs to the world of reality; rationalization fits one's conception of reality to one's impulses and beliefs. Or, as the aphorism has it, reasoning discovers real reasons, and rationalization, good reasons, for what we do.”

Don’t tell me what to do.

I’m blaming the LORD God of the Proto-Israelites often times called Yahweh / Jehovah — which I cannot, will not and refuse to recognize and believe as the Most High.

I see The Most High as LOVE — I see Yahweh as Hate. The Most High LOVES All It’s Creation — NOT JUST PART OF IT!

BTW, I’m not a fan of the word GOD. But you are not ready for an explanation so I’ll wait a bit.

1 Corinthians 13

LOVE IS GOD, GOD IS LOVE. Keep this in mind...

If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have LOVE, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal.

If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have LOVE, I am nothing.

If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have LOVE, I gain nothing.

(Unlike Yahweh) LOVE is patient, (unlike Yahweh) LOVE is kind. (Unlike Yahweh) It does not envy, (Unlike Yahweh) it does not boast, ( Unlike Yahweh) it is not proud. ( Unlike Yahweh) It does not dishonor others, (Unlike Yahweh) it is not self-seeking, (Unlike Yahweh) it is not easily angered,( Unlike Yahweh) it keeps no record of wrongs. (Unlike Yahweh) LOVE does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. ( Unlike Yahweh) It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. (Unlike Yahweh) LOVE never fails..

Do you see what he did here? He had or he would have been murdered as well.

I did not condemn Christianity, I pointed out fanatical Christians. Big diff.

Do you believe God is Jewish?

Re: MONOMANIA AND FANATICAL BIBLE BELIEVERS
Your argument is trite.

And entirely untrue.

Go to the Middle East. Go to China. Go anywhere where they have made Christianity illegal.

There you will find thousands, each and every week, being murdered for their beliefs. Many bravely hold up their heads as a blade is brought to their necks.

The cowards are those who commit these atrocities. And those, like you OP, who would support them.
