Partial insanity, variations of which enjoyed a long pre-history in jurisprudence, was in contrast to the traditional notion of total insanity, exemplified in the diagnosis of mania, as a global condition affecting all aspects of understanding and which reflected the position that the mind or soul was an indivisible entity.

Although monomania was retained as one of seven recognized categories of mental illness in the 1880 US census, its importance as a psychiatric diagnostic category was in decline from the mid-19th century.

People are ill dying — some very old. Some Christians are very concerned with the believe or non belief system of their loved ones. And if they are not of the Christian faith they are concerned that they’re going to burn in hell. They believe that if one is not a Jevv or a Christian they are hell bound. This is so wrong. I posted some near death experiences from NDERF and tried to comfort them. She deleted the post — she’s Very fragile, it makes me sad.

There were a variety of other belief systems included— agnostics, Hindus, Native Americans, et. al.

There is no religion in Heaven and God is Love.

You condemn Christianity by what you see the people who say they are followers of do.

I have also read the koran and it's followers do what is in it. So we need not try to use this statement in that direction.

OP - I get where you are coming from, but I also understand where these other people are coming from too.
It is a times of death where people who have strong faith feel even more connected to GOD and their belief system.
They are concerned for their unsaved loved ones because they love them and want to share their faith with them.
I've studied many religions, and to me Christianity not only makes the most sense but seems to tie everything together in a logical way. Not to mention I've had some prayers answered that were pretty amazing. You may not believe in GOD but He is real.
I understand that you do not feel the same way and I am not trying to convert you, I am just giving you 'my story'.

Christianity has a lot of ties with Judaism because Jesus was Jewish and he was the fulfillment of much of the prophecy in the OT.
Mankind has lost their way and Jesus was sent to teach the world of GOD and eventually die to pay for the sins of those who would accept it.
Anyway - some people get really touchy about their faith, especially when someone close to them dies or is near death. My brother died 2 years ago and some of my family ties were strained because of different beliefs. But we are all still family.
Don't take what they say too hard, and also try and understand their side too.

Remember the thread title and the definions of monomania. I know many Christians who are not fanatics — however this affliction is rampant here.

The Bible, quoting it incessesantly, doom, death, destruction — This is mostly what they focus their energy upon. I have never seen such unrelenting negativity in my life.

According to Jesus He was “sent to save none but the Lost Sheep of the House of israel” — the Jevvs — and free them from the negative influences of their tribal dictator — the LORD god of Isreal — and in doing so save THE GENTILES/PAGANS from his negative influences as well. Unfortunately for all of us he only succeeded partially. Fact.

HIS ONLY COMMAND WAS TO LOVE ONE ANOTHER. They can’t even follow this one command!

I agree with some of what you have said but disagree with some as well. In the end it all comes down to mercy. Jesus had mercy on the criminal who was crucified along side him and promised he would see him in paradise.
At the day of reckoning, I belive that many will be surprised at who receives mercy and who does not.

Neither. And I’m not remotely paranoid. I rarely lock my doors and when I do it’s out of habit. I catch myself, “why are you locking the doors?” But dometimes I do — just cause.

The Babylonians engaged in goddess worship as did others as well. The Hopi Indians have the snake as the symbol for Mother Earth.

Seems to me the Adam and Eve Tale that is offered in the Bible is a carefully crafted myth by the Levite Preists to put women in their “place” once for all by curseing the Goddess - the Serpent was the symbol for the goddess of knowledge and wisdom.

Most if not all of the “sadder things going on” lead back to ONE THING — RELIGION — and it’s effects on the populace whether directly or indirectly. A bit of pondering will confirm this observation. Politics and religion are bloodthirsty brothers as well — pun intended.

The soul/spirit is Homesick. The lack of Knowledge of the truth is everywhere. Organized Religions have for the most part failed miserably in their mission to inform, comfort and guide. They have become “businesses” run by personality driven egomaniac avaricious power hungry men who crave recognition and accolades from their “audience” — for a price. “Gimme money I’ll save your soul”.
