The probabilities are based on the rules of the universe. Everything is possible, but not everything is probable. Once in a while the improbable happens. (Otherwise the world would be boring!) That's the great thing about probability distributions - everything can be modelled like that. Even every previous state that led do a given state in the present can be probability distributions.
