We entered a grand solar minimum just this last November that supposed to last 11 to 22 years.

in the midwest the first snowfall often occurred around thanksgiving, but now we are lucky to have a white christmas

snow or freezing rain in april was unheard of

something is going on

Anything can happen. Nature is unpredictable. It has even snowed in Arizona on Easter.

I don't think they're longer, they're just starting later. I've noticed that for at least the past 3 years. It seems winter doesn't start until January and we're still feeling winter in April. Come May, we skip over spring and end up right in summer. It's definitely been a weird pattern the last few years.

Here in Alberta we only had a bad Feb and first part of March. Other than that it was a fantastic winter here, especially compared to last winter.

I’ll agree with it and add that last year in my locale the trees really didn’t bloom until the second week of May. I saw a few maples already turning colors by the third week of August and then mostly bare again by the second week of October. Another inch of snow here today too.

Yes, the seasons have obviously changed. Which probably means the rotation of the Earth has changed somehow - how we orient to the Sun.

Here in metro west Boston area, winter was very mild until about late Jan/Feb, when cold and snow kicked it. Has stayed pretty cold until now - just starting to regularly reach the 50s. I'd say we're about 6 weeks - 8 weeks off.

In Australia they are not really starting later, but def lasting longer.

Used to be warmish by August, now its almost November.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77557931

That is true but winter is coming later, April when I was younger would become cool then into very wet and dark winters, my Birthday is around mid June as a kid my Birthdays were always cold and wet, for a long time now my Birthdays are warm and sunny!

Now we are getting cold wet, freezing winter days towards the end of June beginning of July right through to November, sometimes heading to Christmas it is nice mild days, sometimes we can score a nice warmish Christmas day but as expected the temperature gets hot just before or on the day.

One day I would just love a cool Christmas day, I think if I wait a couple of more years I may just get that.

Two weekends ago I was outside doing yard work in shorts and a tee sweating.

Today we got at least 6” of new snow and it’s still coming down.

It's also getting colder. Every winter, on many days around dusk, they're lying by 5 or 10 degrees of temperature, reporting a warmer temp. than actual.

Like when my downspouts have frozen because it's getting cold for the night, and NOAA is still reporting it's 40 degrees F, for 2 more hours.

Re: am I the only one to notices that winters are starting later and lasting MUCH longer than they used to?
Historically, it just a cycle that comes around. It was different in the 1800s up to the 1960s, then the warming slowly started. I would say on the average over a long period of time, cycle going way back in history, warming is not the top thing that happens it the cooler that is one which is more normal.

Even in the Old testament and history up til 300 ad, there was cooler weather and cold winters, which tend to make growing crops better, it kills of some pest that eat crops.

There is places that mention fireplaces in the the Bible, the other was Constantine the first one's wife went to the middle east, Judea, and the monks were burning the scrolls as fire wood because of the cold, the writing of Peter was found and had been partly burned. She took them and saved what she could. Just add this to know how cold it was, I would say the dark age, it was a cold and darkness that was around during that time, a lot died from starvation, and diseases. Mostly from Volcanoes going off is a good guess. It was world wide, just doing the movement of people can, in the Americas can let you understand this.

They also had a mini ice age later. So, the blizzards in the South in the 1800s a lot, cool summer compared to now should tell you something.

All the other things about climate is about money and brainwashing people to back them so they can get money. They have been doing this all thru half of 1900s, up to know, learn it your friend against their brainwashing.
Sorry I got a headache

These are the times that tries men's and
women's souls!

May we come though it victorious!
