Ariana Grande as a 1980s pop star probably fits her style better than modern music. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77533108 This is for all the people who think modern pop music is awful. Styles just change. [link to www.youtube.com (secure)] Yes, but no matter how you cut it, 1980's had many more authentic, memorable, heart-touching melodies than today. |

I agree with you, but there's still plenty of good music being recorded today. |

But it's largely buried, and technology has reduced it to a YouTube link amongst thousands that's played on lo-fi speakerphones and often forgotten about after it's heard. |

Please give some examples. good pop music [link to www.youtube.com (secure)] Why? The singing is irrigating me to the point of giving me a headache. It's just a simple, boring, monotonous guitar riff repeated throughout the song with a simple, boring, monotonous chorus and no depth to the lyrics. There's literally nothing there. Everything about it is monotonous and boring. There's no food for thought and no energy in the song. Your example reminds me of "Killing an Arab" by The Cure in terms of musical and lyrical simplicity and monotony. The difference is that "Killing an Arab" has a deep, heavy message, a lot of energy, and some musical originality. Thus, I give "Killing an Arab" 7/10 and your example 2/10. The only significant difference between the following song and "Material Girl" by Madonna is the fact that Ariana Grande is talking about being independent rather than leeching off a man. She should be commended for that. [link to www.youtube.com (secure)] |
