Yellow with black letters

White with black letters and red outline.

I see both in New Orleans all the time

I'm In Michigan and I have only seen yellow ones. Never any other color yet.

older signs are canary yellow

newer ones are lime


this was a change a few years back. the new signs look awful

It's a triangle with a red border and a white center.

Construction yield signs exist too and those are yellow.

This - we have them everywhere in this part of Texas even on country roads where other places would have a stop sign.

Orange means caution/warning. It's not a command it's a safety reminder.


Technically an orange yield sign doesn't legally have to be followed.

A red yield sign does. It's a command.

The yield sign by my road is yellow, maybe it’s a remnant from the 70s?

I am 48 and do not ever remember a yellow yield sign. But that would have made me 2 when they changed. I didnt start studying road laws until 2 1/2.

I'm just amazed at the answers in this thread:

So we have a sign that has not been used (officially) for over 30 years, yet the majority of people keep seeing it!
Not only that -people were taught this sign at driving school, way into the 90's -
Even more impressive is the fact that young people who were not supposed to even be alive when the sign was yellow, still remember it yellow.

And despite all that - most find this situation totally normal!!!!

Wait... I've seen both recently. Yellow yield signs as well as the red and white ones.

The yellow signs and red signs look different besides the color.

Both signs have existed.

The U.S. is a big place. No one went around in 1972 changing them all.

You asked what color do we think of and you have extrapolated that into what color are they definitely. You understand those aren't even the same question?

I do .. people started to answer what they thought was the color!
