YIELD SIGN EFFECT: What color is the US 'yield sign' ? (19 PAGES - still no consensus after 3 years!! TIME PARADOX EVIDENCE???)

I think most people do not pay attention to what is perceived normal. At a permanent road intersection most people are probably not really paying attention. However at in a construction zone (where they are yellow), things are not really normal so maybe that's the visual that sticks in their head because their brain goes into pay attention mode.

Soldiers and law enforcement do special training to combat this instinct so they can more effectively do their jobs because normal, complacent thinking will get them killed.

I guess most people just drive with their head in a different world. I laugh at all these people who derisively use the word sheep to describe everyone other than themselves. The fact is we are all sheep some of the time because we all are complacent thinkers some of the time. That's what, in my opinion, the Mandela effect is really about.

I'm not claiming Mandela effect at this point.
However this deserves to be named the 'yield sign effect'! as far as I'm concerned.

And I certainly never called anyone a sheep for not sharing my opinion.

No, I'm not saying the sheep part toward you, it was a general related statememt.

My point is I think what you have brilliantly highlighted is the effect of both complacent thinking and historical memory. Kudos.

However, certainly there are no 48 year old signs out there (at least none that don't look obviously ancient) . Wind, snow, ice, sun, accidents...

If I'm wrong then they should market whatever paint and metal additives they use as a revolutionary plastic surgery option.

The only detail that bothers me is that this "historical" memory is way over 30 years old ...(1972 according to wikipedia,1985 according to others)

That's a point I made earlier in the thread.

Signs are usually changed after 20 years... if not they would all look bleached by the elements.

YIELD signs have always been RED & WHITE Triangles (red on border, white in center with the word "YIELD" written in red on the white center)

They both are used, they mean two different things. I bet y’all don’t know the difference between the yellow and the red and white a lot of people dont The yellow is a regular yield sign, the red and white is a stop and yield sign, if you see a red and white yield sign and nobody’s coming you can go but if a vehicle is coming you’re supposed to stop and let that other vehicle go. Wow wow I’m blown away.

Unfortunately, there is no official yellow yield sign in the US.

You'd think they should be the same color in every state!

Going down a local interstate on the right lane, My 30 year old started shouting to yield to the on coming cars, its the law!! This showed me we have a big problem. They are being taught that the traffic entering the freeway has the right of way and us older folks were always taught if you have a lane, its yours. I can move over as a curtasy if I am able to but sometimes you just cant.

Yeah... that's a good way to justify the taking of older folks licences ...

It's not that hard to understand, the USA is a big country with states down to cities being in charge of their own traffic, roads, signs, etc etc. Rural vs Urban. If a city deems it not worth the budget to change perfectly good yield signs they will just let them stay. People usually vote on these things and when a bond is put forward to spend millions to change road signs because of color most probably vote no.

US freeways built by the federal government replaced all their yellow signs in 1972-1974.

Yield has been red and white 90% since then.

Duh. How are people so stupid? Bad memories.

What I mean is some were around to be seen years after 1972. Not necessarily 48 years to bring us up to now, but to exist to be seen by more people.

I read the old ones were sometimes used into the 90s.

But note that

Flashing yellow lamp = yield
Flashing red lamp = stop
