Yeah in theory they are all the same. In reality they aren't. I know because I've seen them in different colors across the states. I challenge you to post a current picture of a yield sign anywhere in the USA that is not red/white. Lol, I'm not going to drive until I find one for you. Do it yourself. In my area they are red and white. I've seen them in other colors in the past. This thread is almost as dumb as the flat earth ones. Almost. Sad that the guy from Australia knows more about it than you do. To clarify, I'm not asking you to drive around and snap a picture. You can simply use Google Street view and go to any of these spots that have these colored signs other than red/white that you've seen with your own eyes and post the link here for all to see. Crap you're right. White with a red border, in a location where I was sure I remembered it to be yellow. "Rather than love, than money, than fame, give me truth." |

(19 PAGES - still no consensus after 3 years!! TIME PARADOX EVIDENCE???) Anytime a standard is changed, there is lost information. Glad we never switched to metric back in 1972, but the yield sign somehow stuck. The sign for "toilet" and "wheelchair" also got mixed up in 1972. Don't get me started on standard electrical wire colors in the USA vs other countries! Just because some standards authority on the other side of the world decided something doesn't mean we have to change anything here in the US. So I'm going to say "real" American yield signs are yellow and black. The red and white ones are foreign agitators, here to cause "unrest". There aren't even supposed to be Amber lights on the back of ANY vehicles by USDOT law, but Japan shipped millions of cars here with Amber on the turn signals on the rear! Amber was only permitted on the front of vehicles, and then not until 1965. After 1968, it was permitted for side clearance lights on vehicles, but that didn't stop Japan from disregarding our DOT standards for safety on vehicle lights. Question: What color is permitted for dashboard indication of "high beams on", and when did it change from red?
