The charter group Moorings in the Caribbean buys and sells a lot of cats. Cats are more popular there than on the Pacific Coast. Cats from the NW pacific are less beamy than the South African built cats Moorings buys. There do not seem to be many cats from catalina/cortez on down. A few in the Gulf and more in Fl. A 40 50 ft cat would be 800+ per month slip fee at a cheap place for docking. You also have the upkeep 1 gallon paint 200+, a 40 50 ft take about 10 gallons a coat and you need 2 coats every 2 years. Then sails, rode, cleaning, electrical, engine, and much much more Or if you going to sail the world buy as you probably can't find world wide charter. |

Most likely we will have our own pier for the boat in the yard. |

IF you have a flashy object in Mexico like an oceanworthy catamaran ... how long do you think you will have it there before you start getting "Pay Me" demands in order to ensure your physical safety? Mexico is a Failed Narco-State. Kidnapping is endemic, and getting worse - not so much for the tourists, but for the successful people who live there or have to travel there on business. Friend is mid level management at a US Auto Company and his company will NOT let him stay overnight in Mexico. Fly him and the other American engineers he is working with back to Texas EVERY EVENING and then fly them back into Mexico the next morning. Another acquaintance, a corporate officer of a company that has a Mexican subsidiary. When he has to go to Mexico for business they have a minimum of SIX armed guards - armed with M-16's - in two separate vehicles (one in front and one behind) shadowing him ALL DAY LONG for each day he is in Mexico. Mexico is BEAUTIFUL ... and the common folks are wonderful, but it is still a Failed Narco-State and the government won't be able to help you when the kidnappers or gang types show up either shake you down ... or kill you.
