We are all French today. People everywhere mourn the loss of that beautiful national treasure, the Notre Dame cathedral, with you.

God bless

Stuff like this transcends nationality. Notre Dame is an invaluable piece of history no matter your nationality or religion.

In any case what is nationality anyway in this multicultural cesspool that we are living in. Very few people in France today have any kind of connection to the actual builders of the Notre Dame or the time period it represents.

I haven't read all the posts. I understand fellow
construction tards have chimed in. GREAT!

For those not in construction, know the following:

1. We are not all knuckle dragging retards.

2. We don't start fires willy nilly.

3. If we might start a fire, ( welding, cutting torch) we have extinguisher back up.

4. Never would we screw this up.

5.10x more for a historic structure.

Our so called civilization it woud appear to me is in regression. Not for one moment do I believe we in modernity build such things...

Close by my parish is a round tower which was built by some monks who must have had knowledge beyond our compression. No scaffold we know of which could reach heights of many hundred of feet. Some three foof off center from footing to center of spire. All of that of course some thousand year ago...

Just how did they do that.? Schellig Michael comes to mind...

Just how did they do that.?

Engineers of our world alas would eat the stone ere they would build Notre Dame...

Why are there people on the roof an hour or so before, in the video posted a couple pages back?
 Quoting: Renaissance Woman

omg! You think they were all burned alive?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 76911997

I'm assuming that is sarcasm?
 Quoting: Renaissance Woman

No im asking a seriuos question, you said there were pictures of peolpe on the roof an hour ago, so where are they now. what the timeline of all these events. ive only just heard that the cathedral was on fire and reading these posts. please be more specific, were then on the roof during the fire, or before? if before did they all get out saftely?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 76911997

The people were up there on the scaffolding about an hour or so before the fire started. Presumably construction people. I could make out two in the video, could be more. It's a roof cam from a nearby location set to the cathedral, I guess. The link someone posted has about a minute of video every hour, so obviously we don't know what went on between the one video with people and the next videos with fire.

Someone posted it because it seems suspicious, people walking around in the exact area of the start of the fire, an hour or so prior.

This fellow raises some very good thoughts. I remember working security in Drury Lane during a building strike in London way back then. The site was mostly ope so my job was to keep the bums out of the place. A special notice was given us to be aware of bums trying to keep warm as they may light fires.

A construction site I was on was of the same theme. Where welding was involved we were to be more vigilant. Fire on most sites I worked on always had me check as to workers using ignitable stuff. The most recent site of some years ago had the old foreman make me be aware. Always follow a pattern. Check each floor as we went up and down as we "clocked" in on different points...

Makes ya wonder... Were there no security people in such a valuable place.?

I'm thinking cutting torch or a grinder on the roof of Notre Dame.

that's possible. But if they were freakin using a torch on the roof, then they should have had some guys standing around up there with extinguishers, and a water tanker down on the ground.

It was a good video, poignant. Moleneaux is brilliant.

Believe however there is and has been plenty of intelligence and innovation...which has been suppressed, patents stolen, inventors assassinated, etc. (See: Serco)

That's dark, but there's hope for example that the formerly unacknowledged secret space program has been revealed to exist and split off into its own public thing. Seen some interesting new tech articles...there are good people attempting to reveal this long-suppressed innovation now.
