Why? Tennessee is all I'll say.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 76759123

You need to move out of there ASAP

I live in Pennsylvania and I went to the local county assistance office and if you make poverty level income (I think it's somewhere around $20,000) and they WILL approve you for state funded insurance. I go to my primary doctor, the gyno, the dentist and it's all covered or very cheap

I'm telling you do NOT be ashamed to take assistance if you need it. I'm sure you've paid into the system many years and it's all basically money you worked for. Don't be ashamed.

And PLEASE PLEASE take care of your teeth. Don't eat super sugary stuff, always brush at least once or twice a day. DO NOT SMOKE. Floss, use mouthwash, etc. I buy my brushes, toothpaste, mouthwash, etc at the $1 store and I have no cavities.

Just ONE tooth is freaking thousands of dollars. You can't afford that much salvage what you do have. Worst case scenario you might have to go to the emergency room if you have a bad tooth ache or abscess.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 48626282

And that's the thing some people don't realize. We've been saving money. It's not much but it's something. Tennessee sucks ass in A lot of ways. We want our own home but we would have to say bye bye to getting our teeth fixed. It's just a shitty situation and I know there are a lot of other people like us in the same boat.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 76759123

Get your teeth fixed before owning a home. That in itself can be very expensive with all the upkeep. Houses are falling apart where I live because people can’t take care of basic upkeep.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 76984449

That's why we've just been renting. We've saved money for awhile now to just did our teeth. It's the most important thing on our list.

If you have a dental college nearby, sometimes they'll do it for free. You get to be the guinea pig some kid gets to do his first filling on if you're brave enough to volunteer.

here in NYC we have city hospitals who offer full health AND dental plans. you simply need to agree to do everything through their clinic. will post a link if I can find it.

also new york state offers dental insurance, through the same state service that provides health insurance for all residents. your state may do so as well.

The dentist will try to sucker you into getting a bone graft on any upper teeth pulled. he'll give you a scare story on how pulling the teeth may open a hole to the sinuses which could later lead to chronic sinus infections. So pulling one tooth can cost $800.

That bone graft is just them squeezing some powdered bone into where they the roots were, takes an extra one minute and increases their profit by $400.

Check out Nicaragua for an affordable alternative. You can get a cheap flight on Spirit or flight to San Jose or Liberia in Costa Rica and bus it to Nicaragua. We have many great dentists who trained in the US. You can go on FB forums for Expats in Nicaragua and get lots of good recommendations for dentists who speak English.

Second, add a Lysine supplement.

[link to www.jbbardot.com (secure)]

Search Lysine and Periodontal disease and you will see how important it is. Smoking (weed or tobacco) depletes lysine, which leads to dry mouth, which leads to periodontal disease.

Floss before you go to sleep. This often eliminates morning breath. Rinse your mouth with warm salt water. Do not use mouthwashes. The alcohol dries out your gums, making it worse. Make sure you are using a soft toothbrush.

At night, mix ground turmeric, a tiny bit of black pepper and coconut oil into a thick, almost dry paste. Rub this along your gums and any place that you see pitting. You can leave it on for twenty minutes or sleep with it. Put a towel on the pillow because it is a pain to get out of clothes.

Look into myrrh oil instead of clove. Myrrh has the eugenol that clove has, but doesn't need a carrier oil. You can add myrrh into the turmeric and/or mix equal parts myrrh and frankincense and using a cotton swab, trace it along the gum line.

In the Bible, the gifts are frankincense, myrrh and gold. The gold wasn't metal - it is turmeric. These are the three most important oils and they work well together.

You can make a toothpaste of turmeric powder, frankincense, myrrh and baking soda or betonite clay. Add a little mint or cinnamon oil to make it taste better.

Activated charcoal toothpaste is great, but do it every other day.

Finally, try making a tea from turmeric root, ginger root, lemongrass and a touch of black pepper. Turmeric is not easily absorbed, but adding black pepper increases the absorbancy 2000%. You can use powdered turmeric, but I think it is better with fresh root if it is available. Cut a few pieces into chunks, boil it on low for 20 minutes and drink it cold or iced throughout the day. This will help relieve some of the inflammation and keep your body healthy. It tastes good, too.

You will notice results of the turmeric powder toothpaste and gum rub in less than two weeks.

Good luck. And check out Nicaragua. I had a friend years ago with the worst teeth you could imagine. $2,000 later, his teeth look fabulous - and they are his real teeth.

Many blessings to you and your wife. Thank you for your courage in addressing this sometimes hostile group. :)

Visit a dental school. Dental schools often offer cheaper dental-care than dentists do, so if you have a dental emergency, try visiting one of the country's many top-notch dentist schools listed on Dental Site. Dental schools will work with you to determine the cost of care. For example, NYU's School of Dentistry will evaluate patients free of charge and create a treatment plan that is priced within your means. Every school is different, but most programs have walk-in, emergency care and appointment services for everybody, not just students.

Visit the dentist on the government's dollar. Click here to find a federally funded health care center through the U.S. Department of Health. Everyone is eligible at the free clinics, it just requires a lot of waiting in line.''

Visit your county or state's dental department website for more information on local dentists and low-cost aid programs. The New York City Department of Health and L.A. County Department of Health both have an Oral Services page listing nonprofit low cost primary dental care providers. Most health service programs are only for low-income families, seniors and children, however, so keep that in mind if you don't apply.

If you're really hurting for cash and are eligible, you can participate in a clinical trial and get free dental work. Some studies will even pay you. Check out the National Institute of Health website or ClinicalTrials.gov to see which studies you may qualify for, but remember, while studies are free, some do involve experimental drugs and techniques, so be careful!

I should make more clear. Add the two or three drops of Clove Oil to warm water, only enough to gargle with at one time. You want a potent mixture, it should burn your tounge a little while vigorously sloshing in your mouth.

Also, do not spit it down your drain. Oils build up in drains, best to spit it out in wastebasket or outside or whatever.

I have no idea where to start this, but I've been a frequent visitor to this site for about 10 years. I have no one to turn to, but I just have to get this out somewhere to get things started. To start though, I'm almost 30 and my wife is 27. We both have terrible teeth and it feels like we have no options. I've been at the same dead end job now for 13 years and I can't find another because of these horrendous teeth.

I don't make shit for money and have no insurance. I have to sacrifice a lot of foods in fear of breaking anymore teeth. Right now I've been oil pulling daily to hopefully not get any infections.

My wife is in the same boat as me but we want to do something with our lives but can't because of the shitty choices we have made concerning our teeth. But I want that to change so bad. We just don't want to worry about dying from bad teeth. It's such a terrible feeling having to worry about being embarrassed and constantly worrying about these.

Does anyone have any suggestions? And trust me if we could travel back in time and fix the mistakes we would.
