I read somewhere, maybe here on another post, that the dam or spillway started vibrating and that's why they shut it down.

I saw that too! It was in the Oroville Dam thread. Something about harmonic tremors caused by the action of the water going down the spillway would cause the spillway to disintegrate and dissolve. That's why they shut it down.

It's a hell of a mess they created. A lot of people connected with this mess should be sent to prison.

The comments about pressure tests sound like the Macondo well behavior, prior to the psi going off the charts. Gas expands and is flammable. This reaction in regards to water can't be good either.

1) Statement by DWR that they are "gonna run it 60K wahoo" or something, but 60,000cfm must be part of the info.

2) A graph or statement by DWR that shows a ramp up and then the "emergency" shutoff. "zOMG NOT WORKING!! AGGGHHH" or something.

Their job is managing that exact risk. Gotta keep the floods back but still give enough irrigation water at a stable rate that won't rock the Feather River, which includes the output of the power plant that needs 1.5Kcfm per turbine to run (x6 = ~10Kcfm if they all are running at once).

Then they have to save enough water for the rest of the year. Just like every year.

The whole valley was depleted gold mines. Smaller dams were built and then intentionally blown up to wash out the deposits. The exact area of Oroville (goldville) Dam is one place this happened.

The geological "national security item" that Cahill talks about is a huge deposit of gold underneath the complex.

Maybe the hill is full of old mining tunnels that conduct water up under the spillway.

Oh and load gold usually forms along active fault lines.

If you really look at the total volume of dirt in the earthen dam, you'll see that manufacturing concrete to that degree of volume is not feasible even today.

Why do you think concrete would be better? Clay dams heal themselves because the material shifts/settles. Concrete won't do that.
