pyrite or gold? - tiny specs on a "ore" pebble

is there any discernable way of telling from a picture like this? I realize there isn't three cents worth of either or anything in this two inch pebble though I'm curious in whatever insight anyone may have on the subject. thanks!

Does it glitter in poor lighting?

sorta. sitting by my window here at 8:30 pm with an overcast sky, I figure I could spot the same features if it were my first time observing it closely enough by the faint light still coming in.

Rule of thumb: Pyrites are gold color, gold is yellow.

note taken, though I'm indecisive on which I'd characterize this given the very small sampling area lol.

if anyone wants to suggest a more suitable condition(s) to try and photograph this under, I'm open to it

Put a torch to the gold. If it’s pyrite it will smell of sulfur.

indeed, I've only looked up what mica actually is recently and was surprised to learn it can be confused with gold in certain circumstances. I'd probbly have to be sniffing up any fumes through a cardboard tube if I were to torch it and try getting a whiff of it though...

both mica and pyrite look like small crystals with sharp edges.

gold looks like small blobs of yellow.

If you could take close up of the top middle portion it would assist in the identification I looks like a quartz inclusion.
