How marijuana could hurt your heart and blood pressure
In a recent study, researchers from Georgia State University found that marijuana use is associated with a three-fold risk of death from high blood pressure.

The finding is published in the European Journal of Preventive Cardiology.

The researchers focused on the long-term effect of marijuana use on health. They examined people aged 20 years and above from the NHANES (National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey).

The team found that among a total of 1 213 participants, 34% used neither marijuana nor cigarettes, 21% used only marijuana, 20% used marijuana and smoked cigarettes, 16% used marijuana and were past-smokers, 5% were past-smokers and 4% only smoked cigarettes.

The average duration of marijuana use was 11.5 years.

Marijuana users had a higher risk of dying from high blood pressure. Compared to non-users, marijuana users had a 3.42-times higher risk of death from the disease and a 1.04 greater risk for each year of use.

Marijuana stimulates the sympathetic nervous system, leading to increases in heart rate, blood pressure, and oxygen demand.

Emergency rooms have reported cases of angina and heart attacks after marijuana use.

The authors suggest that the cardiovascular risk associated with marijuana use may be greater than the cardiovascular risk already established for cigarette smoking.

In another study reported by the American College of Cardiology, researchers find that marijuana use is linked to higher risk of heart failure and stroke.

The study drew data from the Nationwide Inpatient Sample, which includes the health records of patients admitted at more than 1,000 hospitals.

The researchers analyzed data from young and middle-aged patients–age 18-55 years, who were discharged from hospitals in 2009 and 2010 when marijuana use was illegal in most states.

They found that compared to non-users, marijuana users showed a much higher risk for stroke, heart failure, coronary artery disease, and sudden cardiac death.

Re: How marijuana could hurt your heart and blood pressure
The old organic strains never did this.

But this modern frankenweed sure does.

Every time I tried the modern stuff my heart would start beating really fast and heavy.

It seriously felt like a heart attack could indeed happen.

Ive a few friends who smoke the frankenweed and they got heart attacks in the end.

But admittedly they wmoked it every day.

I dont have that heart race effect from organic naturally grown weed.

But its hard t get now so I just quit it altogether.

Saved a fortune in munchies.

really , how old were they?

i think a lot of it is the proportion of THC to CBD content , although thats obviously not the whole story.

I know a person who is 71, and who has had quadruple bi pass surgery. Suffered cardiac arrest few years after the surgery, spent week in the hospital, recovered and his doctor still allows him to smoke pot.

They were about 40 or so.

None of them had heart trouble history.

And also before 1995 and the invention of "skunk" this sort of thing never happenned even to the old hippies from the 60's who are still avid smokers.

Its the modern weed...they have done something horrible to it...cross bred it with something...poisonous.

Ive seen too many people going schitzo from it as well.

Something else that never used to happen.

Unless it was LACED...

So what does that say about this modern shit they CALL weed?

Its fucking DEADLY.

Stick with ORGANIC NATURALLY GROWN...

Or die or got nuts...or both.

Re: How marijuana could hurt your heart and blood pressure
I smoke weed and agree that its stronger and makes me feel anxiety and paranoid nowadays. Doesnt matter where I buy it from.

Skunk had been outsold by kush.

Kush is the new skunn and I find it super addicting when i smoke it. I used to think people put stuff in my weed but I grabbed from multiple sources and in the end, grew kush myself and realised it's the strain itself.

The weed now has virtually 0 CBD , the calming medicinal property of cannabis but comes with a shitload of THC which can alter your perception quite heavily when its 25% in potency on average .

And surprise they made it legal at its highest point of thc so far. Never trust your government and the fact they made weed legal shows you that it's not good anymore

The smoking is contributing to the less than desirable effects. You should switch to using a vaporizer instead - this article explains why:

[link to www.thefirefly.com (secure)]
"In addition to aroma and taste, Terpenes and Cannabinoids all have strong psychological and physiological effects. Some of these effects include making users feel alert, energized, focused, aware, thoughtful, creative or social (to name a few). However, when so many terpenes and cannabinoids are destroyed by burning them at the extremely high heat of flames, the user does not always get these effects. The user only feels the effects of the terpenes and cannabinoids with higher boiling points which have more resistance to the high heat. Because of this, many users report being more alert, aware and clear-headed when they vaporize cannabis versus when they smoke it. It’s not because less terpenes and cannabinoids are being delivered. Rather, it’s because MORE are being delivered and they all affect the user’s experience. When cannabis is smoked, this symphony of effects is often not felt, but instead the user feels an overwhelming and incapacitating high since these other compounds that give more clarity are not taken into the body when they’re burned. Additionally, vaping allows users much more precision in controlling their dosing. This allows users to prevent getting too over-affected and maintaining more clarity from their experience."

In the U.S. it's now legal to order cbd/hemp flower online and have it shipped to you. I would imagine you have access to this in Canada? Get your hands on some and mix it with the other product and you will reduce/lessen the psychoactivity depending on how much you decide to use. An inexpensive digital scale that measures down to .01g would make for precise dosing.

And surprise they made it legal at its highest point of thc so far. Never trust your government and the fact they made weed legal shows you that it's not good anymore
