So, couple things are happening here. Either the church is engaged in something nefarious like money laundering, terrorist financing, or something of that kind and the bank is just cooperating with law enforcement orders.

Or, the bank made a business decision to exit the relationship and sent the church a certified letter that they had 30 days to find another bank. The secretary ditched the letter, and 30 days later, accounts are frozen and the church will get their money in the form of a certified check in about a week or so.

Bank could have decided to exit for any number of reasons - they defaulted on debt, or repeat overdraft offender, kiting in their accounts (robbing Peter to pay Paul between multiple checking accounts causing overdrafts), etc. The business reason could actually be anything. Maybe they had check fraud on their account and the bank decided they didn't want to take ongoing continued losses week after week. Could be a hundred reasons.

He was actually beaten up and tazed by border patrol at a checkpoint for not cooperating with a search of his vehicle...he was arrested, and charges later dropped. You can see video's of it online. He was injured.

The business reason could be something as simple as "reputation risk". Meaning the local banker doesn't want the negative publicity of being associated with his views.

This guy probably hit someone at the bank's radar and they didn't want the negative publicity. It could be a decision in the back office, or it could be the decision of the local bank lending officer who just didn't want to bank this client anymore because he is a pain in the blank and issued an exit directive to the back office to send an exit letter.

Literally, it could be just one guy or gal that initiated this process, not the whole bank.

Sometimes it is a mix of factors. The client is taking a nosedive, maybe screamed and yelled at the local banker, and the local banker had enough of the client's shenanigans. Not all clients are warm and fuzzy. Many can be quite nasty and blame the bank for everything under the sun even when the bank is NOT at fault.

The bottom line is that we are only hearing one side of the story. I assure you that if you heard the bank's side of the story, that there are VERY legitimate reasons why they are exiting.

I've been the victim of bank account closure and I can definitively tell you there is a black list or at a minimum certain people "make calls" to your banks. The banks have access to the security apparatus. Central banks control the security apparatus because they literally own the government. Banking, telecommunications and transportation are all controlled by this system. Medical and food are next.
In the end, the truth is revealed. You might not accept it, but it will be right in front of you and undeniably true.

I think we may be talking about 2 different things here...possibly. Yes, there is a blacklist used by all banks for depositors that stiff a bank, which then makes it really difficult for that depositor to open a new checking account at another bank.

For example, you have a $25,000 overdraft in your account and you never bring the account current. The bank charges-off the $25,000 and reports this information to other banks so that they are aware of what happened and to be cautious opening a checking account for you at different bank.

That's actually a legitimate practice, not really any different than trade reporting on credit bureaus for vendors and suppliers to businesses. If your company stiffs a supplier, then that will hit the trade bureaus so other suppliers know not to do business with you unless you pay up front.

I don't know enough about what happened to you in your case, or even in the case in this thread, for the simple fact of the matter that we don't have and will never know the facts.

I will say that the LGBTQ agenda and advocacy is big-time involved with the big banks. I would be surprised if a bank would close down a relationship on that factor alone, however. That's actually pretty unlikely. It's probably more like the bank was taking financial losses on the client, combined with the client being unreasonable to deal with, and someone made a business decision to pull the plug.

Again, it is usually their assigned Officer at the bank that is the ultimate decision=maker, because that Officer gets paid on profitability. And Officers of the bank are under huge pressure to hit quotas and be profitable. Any business that is hurting profitability will get heightened scrutiny - and even exiting if it gets really bad.

Found it. Here is the key detail:

"They're supposedly going to send us a cashier's check in like two weeks for all the money that was in our church bank account but in the meantime they just took all our money away," Anderson said.

So, before BOA or any other bank closes an account, they will send an overnight letter to the client via UPS or Fed Ex so that there is a written record. The client typically has 30 days to close their accounts on their own, and move funds to another bank or credit union.

If they neglect to do so, at the 30 day mark, the accounts are frozen, and the bank then issues the client a certified check. It can take up to 2 weeks, but typically happens faster than that.

So what this tells you is that in all likelihood, the secretary got the UPS package with the letter, and threw it in the trash or set it aside not realizing what it was. Or, it is possible it got sent to the wrong address, though that is rare. Banks don't close accounts out of the blue without having given the 30 days notice - for liability reasons alone this doesn't happen.

As to rationale, we will never know the bank's reasoning. The bank never discloses why they would do so. But think about it - What kind of organization misses a Fed Ex or UPS envelope from their bank and then disregards it? I guess mistakes happen, but it tells you a clue about how the client runs their organization.
