:sagan:

I'm in WA where it's completely legal. I just go down to the local weed store and pick up a pack of joints.

a committee voted to send in to full vote...

IF it passes the full vote
the governor has to sign it.

i would not hold your breath.

Yeah I get that. Still an uphill battle beats no battle at all where this is concerned.

I would never have expected 11-0 vote in favor.

So am surprised and hopeful for those who could benefit from this.

Anyone know what would be next for this to happen?
 Quoting: Captainawesome1701

This vote was in a Senate committee, so presumably, the next action would be a full Senate vote. The article says a similar bill was defeated in the House last year, so hopefully, the House reconsiders this year.

Gov. Ivey is a wildcard in this one. I have no idea whether she would veto the legislation.

Yep, sure was shot down. I hope they take a good look at this and make it happen.

Crackhead governor to sign into law.

it's fucking ridiculous that one state over you can legally have it but in some states such as mine if you are caught with weed you get sentenced like you murdered someone.

get over it people and just legalize it.

The criminalization of weed is just about over. Its just needs to become a federal law. Makes no sense that I can go buy an OZ of weed and in the next state over if I had that same OZ I would go to jail.

I do want to point out for all your liberal hating on this site thats its the liberals that want it legal and its the republicans that want to keep it illegal.

You're not as effective as you would be if you didn't smoke pot. Hence why you are considered lazy, because you are. Same with alcoholics, not as effective as they should be.

You're also weak for being controlled by a substance, most of you won't admit you are owned by the substance.

Here's your daily dose of religious indoctrination:

"Of the historical material indicating the Hebraic use of cannabis, the strongest and most profound piece of evidence was established in 1936 by Sula Benet (a.k.a. Sara Benetowa), a Polish etymologist from the Institute of Anthropological Sciences in Warsaw. In 1975 Benet stated, “In the original Hebrew text of the Old Testament there are references to hemp, both as incense, which was an integral part of religious celebration, and as an intoxicant.” Through comparative etymological study, Benet documented that in the Hebrew Scriptures and their Aramaic translation, the Targum Onculos, hemp is referred to as q’neh bosm (variously translated as kaneh bosem, keneh bosem, kaniebosm) and is also rendered in traditional Hebrew as kannabos or kannabus. The root kan in this construction means “reed” or “hemp,” while bosm means “aromatic.” This word appears in Exodus 30:23, Song of Songs 4:14, Isaiah 43:24, Jeremiah 6:20, and Ezekiel 27:19. Benet’s etymological research regarding the Hebrew terms q’eneh bosem and q’eneh was based on tracing the modern word cannabis back through history to show the similarities between the cognitive pronunciation of cannabis and q’eneh bosem,*9 as well as comparing the term to the names used for cannabis by contemporary kingdoms, such as the Assyrian and Babylonian term for the plant, qunubu. In fact, the term q’neh bosem is the Hebrew transliteration of an earlier Indo-European term for the plant, canna. This term left traces through the vernacular an, seen in various modern terms for c’an’nabis, such as the Indian bh’a’ng, the French ch’an’vre, the Dutch c’an’vas, and the German h’an’ f. This use of an Indo-European word in the Semetic language shows that the ritual use of cannabis came to the Hebrews from foreign sources and as an item of trade; it retained the core aspects of its original name. Indeed, in both the Jeremiah and Ezekiel references referred to by Benet, cannabis is identified as coming from a foreign land." ~ The Pot Book (Julie Holland M.D.)

It's pure economics, people. And timing.

Big pharma just got whacked upside the head today from what I skimmed in news about crackdown on opiod abuse. Several folks from the medical sector got hauled away.

Farmers are loving how they can go back to one of the best, resilient and versatile crops as our ancestors once farmed.

It's a sign of the times, people.
