Soon after the rooftop video was first posted on Monday by someone from Sweden, I pointed out the flash and asked if it was the sun catching on something kind of large and metallic. The thread was moving so fast that no one really responded.

I'm so glad this is being highlighted here now.

Incidentally, in the full-sized video that same clip (not zoomed in), there is another person to the left of the left-most spire of that side transcept. Just milling about.

So, at least two people.

The bells are in the north and south towers. The fire hoses were pretty focused on those, because they are filled with the same maze of timber steps and supports as the roof/attic was. I've been up in the bell towers to take photos with the bells, as I'm sure many people here have. Dizzying maze of wood.

If that wood had caught fire and the bells had fallen, the towers would be gone, I would assume.

So to answer your question, I'm sure the bells survived, otherwise we would know it.

The flash in that video reminds me of firing up a road flare for the first time, or someone firing up an acetylene torch.

On large construction jobs here in the us, we have a guy/girl who walks the area for at least 30 mins after anywhere welding or anything has been done.
You would think on a job of this magnitude they would have that.
