First, CA voters voted for the new gas tax. And if you really believe that, I have a bridge to sell you. However, that's what the official vote count says. Voted in through voter fraud IMHO. Who the hell votes FOR a tax.

Second, we've seen this in the past. They put the money in a special fund account for road repairs, etc. But a couple of years later, the state politicians eventually vote to move the money to the General Fund because they "need" it elsewhere.

So, new tax, money eventually gets siphoned off for God knows what, roads don't get repaired, people scream about it, new tax, money eventually gets siphoned off for God knows what, roads don't get repaired, people scream about it, new tax, money eventually gets siphoned off for God knows what, roads don't get repaired, people scream about it, new tax....

On and on.
