Both had their pain clinics closed down just recently. One is in Kansas and will have to drive himself two hours one way to go to the nearest one. He says it’s flooded with patients from all the ones that got closed down. He’’s trying to wean himself off, and I’m terribly worried about it. The other one lives in Ohio. She’s in her eighties and her back is so bad, but she’s doing her best. I don’t know what she’s going to do. I’m not pro drugs, but if people are suffering so badly, how can we just cut them off? MJ isn’t even legal most places. IDGAF |

These are the first arrests announced since an opioid strike force began late last year. Listen Listening...0:58 The defendants include 31 doctors, seven pharmacists, eight nurse practitioners and seven other licensed medical professionals. They're charged with participating in illegally prescribing and distributing opioids and other drugs, and other health care fraud schemes. "Cases like one involving a doctor in Dayton, Ohio, who at one time was among the highest prescribers of opioids in the entire state," says U.S. Assistant Attorney General Brian Benczkowski of the Criminal Division, speaking in Cincinnati. "That doctor allegedly operated a 'pill mill' and funneled prescriptions to the pharmacy housed in his own waiting room which dispensed over 1.75 million pills in a two-year period." Wednesday's arrests span 11 federal districts in Ohio, Kentucky, West Virginia, Tennessee and Alabama. "As charged, these cases involve approximately 350,000 opioid prescriptions and more than 32 million pills," Benczkowski says. "[That's] the equivalent of a dose of opioids for every man, woman and child across the states of Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, West Virginia and Alabama combined." More arrests are expected and investigations are continuing. The strike force is expanding to include the Western District of West Virginia. Benczkowski says the indictments are indicative of the Trump administration and Justice Department's tough stance on the opioid epidemic. [link to www.wvxu.org (secure)] This is really not a good thing. They have doctors terrified to prescribe pain meds now. People are suffering greatly because of it. This. Most clinics won't even prescribe pain meds now. You have to go to a separate clinic that specializes in pain relief. You also have to pay a separate fee. More regulations. They manage to round up doctors but they have a hard time busting crack and meth dealers? |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77561180 Yes. They do work but nothing works if you don’t switch up your routine. I have a pain disorder that I don’t take drugs for. Tried gabapintin (however it’s spelled) and it was great for my brain but did nothing for pain levels and made me super angry. It was awful. Lyrica was fun but only worked for a few months and not all that well. I think being high just kept my mind elsewhere. Now let’s add that my neck complete seizes up ... about once a week. It then pulls all the muscles from my face and head. Like I need more pain. This one is just awful. I can take a muscle relaxer at bed time to help it release but if I take one dose of codiene it not only relieves the pain, but I can function instead of wasting a day on the couch. Except now, as I type this, I realize I don’t consider it wasted time. Now I own my time and if I have to rest, I will rest. But don’t say opioids don’t work. It is person to person... drugs are not a one size fits all. They never were. And greed just compounds the issue. |

I knew one guy who had major surgery and they wouldn't send him home with any strong meds at all, because he was from out of state, that's ridiculous. yeah I know and people all across the nation are freaking out I don't know enough about it to give a personal opinion my wife has people screaming at her all day long You're poor wife, people are so dumb though, it's not the pharmacists fault in any way, shape or form. I live in Florida in a ground zero druggie land county, and I expect to see crime rise due to frustrated people trying to get their meds, just a hunch. I'm in Florida too. A LOT of times, it is the pharmacist being on a power trip. Case in point: I have a prescription for a Schedule IV sleeping medication. It's not an opiate (which are all Schedule II), not a benzodiazapine (like Valium/Xanax, which are Schedule III), but it's the lowest classification (a hypnotic which is Schedule IV). Couple of months ago, I was taking a trip for work and was going to be gone for the whole week (Sun - Fri). I notice I have 2 pills left and went to refill my prescription so I'd have enough for the whole trip. The pharmacist refused to refill it because she said it was to early (2 days before empty). She said my insurance wouldn't fill it early, so I called my insurance on my cell phone with her standing there. My insurance said, over the speakerphone, they allow refills 7 days prior to running out. The pharmacist, caught in her lie, then changed her story and said it was a state law that she couldn't fill it 2 days early. I then pulled up on my cell phone the regulations in Florida that showed that only applied the Schedule II and Schedule III medications and showed her. Caught in a lie again, she then just said that it was store policy. I got tired of dealing with lies and ignorance, so I just left, called my doctor, and he called in another prescription hypnotic sleeping medication (different medication) to another pharmacy and I went and picked it up so I would enough to last me for my trip. And good luck getting off them. Clearly, big pharma is full of sh!t, their pills' many lethal side effects are their ONLY effects. Notice how big pharma NEVER, EVER makes any attempt to mitigate all these side effects, they are purposely engineered into the pills so you go back for more pills for those side effects, and so on for THOSE new side effects. This gives them the most profit off the public's misery. My pain management doctor is onto this and showed me how cannabis, heat, ice, and even acupuncture, etc, are other options that ALWAYS outperform opioids without the baggage and liver destruction. Have you tried A.R.T.? It's Active Release Method, a non-invasive, skilled soft tissue manipulation technique that removes adhesions in the fascia, the true source of most back and neck pain. See if there's an ART practitioner in your area, it's worth it. You usually can get permanent improvements on the 1st visit, and you won't need more than 8-10 visits. Thanks, but thanks to the other pain disorder, the only doc in my area that does something similar won’t treat me regularly because I won’t give up milk and sugar. And no, I am not obese nor pre diabetic. Those things cause inflation, but the list of medical issues is too long (childhood traumas and car accidents) for me to give up the few enjoyments I have with food. And only my neck is muscle related. The other pain issues are bone and nerve related. Science hasn’t caught up yet. It’s okay, it’s not degenerative... just painful. |
