As do I, the doctors here are nothing short of amazing and dedicated.

I know I'm rather "Well preserved", to use an NC Outer Banks fishing term, but I'm very glad Mrs. Louis was asleep when two staff nurses from the catheterization team came to take her for her procedure and they said they thought I was her son--oops!

Well, good on them for getting everything solid before they go in. Amazing surgeries are wonderful, but better to do it right the first time and not have any "upon further discovery" ordeals.

Congrats on your compliment as well. But to be fair to Mrs. Louis, she is pretty ill, and that can make a huge difference in a person's visage.

I'll pray until you tell us all is well.

The catheterization went well, and they are leaning towards it looking more like something attached to a wall in her heart perhaps a fatty deposit.

well I do not recall his name we were told the number one cardiac MRI doctor in the US will be coming here tomorrow to do a cardiac MRI and evaluation of Mrs. Louis.

The doctor said today that it requires a reconfiguration on the MRI machine for higher resolution he said something about changing the magnets but I suspect it's something about changing the detectors.

In any event she is on hold still getting IV fluids and a transfusion and the MRI will hopefully reveal that she does not require heart surgery. The doctor said that some people spontaneously can form clots while it is unusual, it is a possibility outside of this coming from her heart so they need to look very closely in detail before deciding if surgery is a necessity.

Again my most profound thanks to everyone for your prayers. Hey if she doesn't need the cardiac surgery that right there could be a pretty good indication the prayers are working! But I already know they are so it looks like I won't really have any updates until tomorrow following the MRI.

Thank you for keeping her in your prayers, she has so needed them.

It's good that they're getting good imaging studies before going in. Hearts and brains are two places they should know going in what they're likely to find.

As a radiology transcriptionist, every day I read and type things that amaze me about how detailed and accurate MRIs and even CTs are. And since you're in a great hospital, I'm sure they have top-notch radiologists interpreting what they see. Waiting is rough, but it's better to go in with no surprises.

She was seriously losing it behind not smoking for a week, stressing over her situation, and having a few nurses that were certain they could stick her to draw blood and failing and hurting her instead--that was the entire point of a team installing a central line on her to avoid having to stick her.


Please ask them to use the "Butterfly Needlee" when taking blood...It is used in babies and adults where it is hard to find a vein.

That is what they use on me and it has made all the difference in the world.

Butterfly needles are often used on people who might be difficult to perform venipuncture on. These include:

older adults
infants
children
people who are “difficult sticks”

Louis, things are moving so fast for you, and changing so quickly, it is perfectly natural and OK for you to feel overwhelmed and actually sort of "floaty" as if you're watching everything happen about a half-step to the left of yourself. You need an anchor, something solid to hang on to and hold you up.

Let us here on GLP be that anchor for you and Ella. Know that if it were possible there would be a CROWD sitting with you, giving you hugs of encouragement and keeping away the negative thoughts which can come so quickly at moments like this.

Yeah, Louis, you'll need to REDACT that post before letting Mrs. Louis read it!

Try to get some sleep. Remember you are her strength. Look after you so you can look after her. Doesn't matter where you sleep just make sure some sleep happens.

Blood clots are terrifying! I know from experience---I feel like i was also saved by prayer in June 2016!
