Thank you everyone I'm certain your prayers are helping. She has more tests scheduled for Monday--that clot was not why she went to the hospital.

The good thing is she is resting peacefully as they have upped her frequency of pain meds.

She has another endoscopic exam Monday--this one an internal endoscopic echocardiogram, she had the standard external one today and the doctor has concerns, so hence the additional testing.

It's rough when it's someone you love; your words and prayers have lifted my spirits and held her up to God; they'll never be forgotten.

The same here, Louis! Just checking in to see how you and Mrs. Louis are doing. Hopefully no more tornadoes?
 Quoting: Eggcellently Deplorable

Thank you for checking. It was sunny today but we indeed had eleven tornadoes come through Virginia yesterday, the closest was about thirty miles from our home, so all was well there.

She's resting peacefully, I arrived back at the hospital a short time ago and got her ice water as she was thirsty and got a blanket and pillow for me so I could sleep in the comfy recliner in her room near her.

She has nothing scheduled for Easter; her next procedures and tests will be on Monday.

It's a large hospital with a beautiful chapel; I shall be at it for services tomorrow. [link to bonsecours.com (secure)]

With Lady Gaga as the face of autoimmune disease no one will ever know why they have blood clots:

[link to www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov (secure)]

Comparative studies suggest that coagulation and innate immunity have a shared evolutionary origin. It is therefore unsurprising that the immune and coagulation systems are linked, with many molecular components being important for both systems. Systemic inflammation modulates thrombotic responses by suppressing fibrinolysis, upregulating procoagulant, and downregulating anticoagulants, and autoimmune disorders such as systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), and Behçet’s syndrome have been linked to an increased risk of VTE

A beautiful young woman I once knew nearly died of clots during her pregnancy. The drugs used to treat clotting are scary.

So many wonderful prayers, for not just Mrs. Louis and myself, but others too, in other threads--GLP has such kind and compassionate members of faith, it renews one's belief in humanity.

I checked with the hospital switchboard O'sC, as to when services are and despite it being Easter Sunday it appears they are on their normal schedule of Monday - Thursday only for services.

But since every moment in time exists simultaneously, like frames of film on a movie reel and run through the projector of human consciousness to provide the illusion of the passage of time, it matters not when we pray as everything exists in the eternal present--anytime we pray or reflect is the right time!

I'll pray for our members and guests today, both those with recent health scares and those enjoying wellness, to have a blessed day and a bright future.

Thank you all, she definitely requires your prayers now more than ever.

She's refusing to eat since Friday, becoming confrontational with the medical staff, and starting to say she no longer trusts them as all they do is hurt her; not good.

I hate feeling powerless to help her. She is definitely in no mood to read or listen to anything either.

This is a really great suggestion, Louis, especially
if your wife is being confrontational with the staff as
it reflects her fear. Reading aloud has helped my family
in these cases, I love to hear my spouse's voice and
the story gets your mind off the pain.

Try that. It'll work.

Maybe she needs some space. Maybe she needs to cry, but feels like she's got to be strong.

Thank you all again.

I've held her hands and prayed over her; she is going for x-rays of her right leg soon.

She's pretty out of it from pain meds so not too receptive of my reading to her.

And it's Easter and our truck won't start, some error about advancetrack and the engine won't turn over.

I suspect it may be a week battery or bad connectionm and I've no tools to remove and reconnect the battery connections. This must be one of those times God tests me.

With everything closed it looks like I'll be here through tomorrow when I can call security for a jump and if it starts, no WHEN it starts, drive to a shop or auto parts store for a battery.

I don't want to consider the possibility of something failed.

The cats will think we've abandoned them. Keep your head up Louis, you've got this I'll keep telling myself.

Thank you. It's not a teaching hospital so no residents and she's been seen by the attending and three specialists this weekend.

She's away for x-rays now.

She will make it through this and they are aware of her not eating.

The out of it is from pain meds from the arterial surgery; she is still in a great deal of pain.

The suggestions and prayers given have been a Godsend from everyone.

Louis, see if you can get one of the staff or the cafeteria to get you a bit of baking soda to clean the battery/cable connection.

If you have never done this, get perhaps 1/2 cup soda, and get about a cup of water. Find a rock since you have no tools. Sprinkle most of the soda on the battery-cable connections, cover them well but not necessarily thickly. Then slowly pour the water onto the soda. The soda will react with the acid and the water will clean the connection.

Try to start it now. If it doesn't start, but tries, then you may have loose connection as a problem, if it doesn't even grunt, then your problem is likely the battery. This is not unusual. Jiggle the cables a bit, and try to tighten them a bit more by whacking the ends gently where the tightening screw is, to see if you can get them to seat a bit tighter. Try starting again. If you have a small screw or a nail, even a hairpin, see if you can gently tap it in between the cable end and the battery connector. This will also tighten the connection. I used to work at an auto electric shop, and we saw loose cables frequently.

If it was starting well until today, the battery is probably OK.

There should be a taxi company which has a jumper service. They will come and give your vehicle a jump for a fee. I used to have a car that needed this attention fairly frequently.

Prayers still going out for both of you.

ps. If your wife stays out of character after off the medication, have them check for dementia. My mother and a cousin's husband both had this happen to them after surgery.

Thank you for the prayers and dementia tips. hugs

She was more herself when I got back--she was watching shows on ancient megalithic structures on the tablet I brought for her.

She also told the cafeteria staff she would call them back with her food order when they called to ask what she wanted. She looked through the full menu the nurse had brought her (she is such a picky eater) and she ordered fettuccine alfredo and sauteed shrimp with orange Italian ice for tonight's dinner. I'm glad she feels like eating again!

Well you're quite the auto mechanic!! Such great tips, thank you! And since this also became the truck repair thread, here's how that went for me a little while ago:

Looking that error up I learned over twenty systems need to all give an 'okay' or the vehicle will not start or will shut down--great, just what I need. At least it doesn't blow up like a rocket launch on computer failure

or

The battery might be too low.

So I asked the nurse if she knew where I could get help and she said hospital security could come jump start it for me.

So I found an auto parts store that was open and was less than two miles away online, had her call security and a nice old man looking over eighty drove up in an SUV to our truck and he got out with a jump start box and I told him what was wrong. He laughed and said "Fords go insane" when their battery dies--he was right. As soon as he connected the jump box the error messages all went away and the truck started!!

I had been out in the truck enjoying music, a smoke, and some GLP time when the truck went crazy.

I drove to the "Auto Zone" parts store and they had the OEM battery and a deep-cycle one for this vehicle that could be used too. I went with the deep-cycle one and they cleaned the cable connectors, put in a battery replacement kit (new pads) and installed it for me with a $20 discount too. $189 well spent so Mrs. Louis will not have this same problem happen to her in the future. I tipped the guy a $5 for his trouble.

I'm getting greyer hair from this week's stressors!! I'm not sure it makes me look distinguished, 'more like a an old codger.

Thinking of you and your wife. Good luck tomorrow. It’s frustrating (and scary), but she is in good hands

Awww Dude that made me tear up and Mrs. Louis finally took a glance at the thread and said "Cool!".

Everyone here on GLP has been an incredible inspiration and so so very helpful.

And see the prayer does work--Mrs. Louis is showing a great improvement this afternoon and the truck issue is resolved with no towing charges or repairs needed.

I think I'll take off work tomorrow so as to be here when she has the (I forget the term) internal echocardiogram to check out the heart chamber one of the doctors is concerned of.

He also ordered her oral pain meds too--they will last longer than the IV injectables the nurses give her every three hours so they should help her be less in pain.

This has been so far been a week I'd wish on no one!!

Hooray for your truck working again! Does your wife have a favorite song? Or group she likes? Music helps my brain, maybe it will calm her if she begins to be upset again. What you are going through is life changing.
We’ll keep praying for you until you two are home and cozy again.
