Similar to an indictment, one can develop a case out of nothing, and indict a ham sandwich if they wish. Similarly, the Dims could have done the same months ago. They won’t, because they know that the Senate will literally laugh them out of the House as a result (if they succeed), and that will be the end of them as a party, but they will walk this to the brink at every opportunity for any reason they can ( and some they will create) in hopes of demonizing him to the fullest extent prior to 2020.

I believe that their antics are so obvious now, anyone with a brain can read them like a book, and they’ve already blown their wad politically. So, the other motive here is to hopefully create enough doubt over the system and those on the right that will soon be holding them accountable that the country rises in unison to condemn the legal actions that are coming. They will do this by accusing everyone and his brother of the crimes they committed (as they have been already), so it appears that this is some kind of reverse coup when the arrests begin. Unfortunately for them, that chapter of their book has already been read (multiple times) by those that demand justice. If they had waited a bit longer maybe to spin their lies and derision, they might have pulled it off, but they went full batshit insane day 1 from the inauguration (really well before that to many of us here), and the American Public is now finally tired of it, sees this for what it is, and most either now absolutely want them held accountable for their treason, or they simply don’t give a shit. The few remaining insane adherents to their worldview might certainly react violently when this all goes down, but they amount to nothing in the grand scheme, and will be very quickly quelled with overwhelming force if they choose to act.

In short, their game is over. Now it’s our turn.

Let's imagine what would happen. They successfully impeach and remove him... Pence become President. The stock market takes a nosedive, everybody loses their asses in their 401K's. Unemployment rises sharply, home sales tank. This pretty much happens right away if Trump is removed.

Now Pence is President and the election comes around, everybody is pissed at the new financial situation and the Dems lose control of the house.

Now Republicans have House, Senate and Presidency.

Frankly, they have been "impeaching" him since election night, 2016. They have no intention of a having a formal impeachment proceeding, instead they and their cohorts in the media have been beating the drums 24/7 for two plus years now and that drumbeat will continue right up until election night, 2020.
