Can anyone tell us why public libraries are so awful these days?

There is a concerted effort to destroy all libraries in the United states and Canada (at least).

BECAUSE:

Once all the printed references are gone, the mandela effect works!

Ah, the good ol' days of being 13 and going to the library with my buds, sticking your head under the flap of the copy machine and mashing your face against the glass as your buddy deposited a dime and the light nearly blinded you, then cackling like hyenas as the copy slid out...

Seriously though, I did spend a lot of time in there reading.

But being the GLP type I am today, I know I can't find any books on things I'm really interested in there today. Go to a bookstore and marvel at the thousands and thousands of books on the shelves, yet most of them filled with inane, vapid, inconsequential fluff and trivia. Totally disposable.

All dey needz is compooters , michael jackson/obammy/maffin loofa kang picture books, and chairs to slouch in.

They live so many in every apartment so they go wank in the library, less people I guess. Plus they're not supposed to do it according to their religion.
Massmedia stopped reporting on it, for a while it was at least an article a week about library wankers.

The libraries here are fantastic.

Super stocked with books, CDs, DVDs, up to date magazines and newspapers. Lots of concerts, lectures, art exhibits, special community programs. Very helpful staff who are strict about rowdy or noisy behavior.

I guess it depends on your geographical location. This is a high tax neighborhood.

I live in Columbus OH and we have a wonderful library in Worthington, a few miles from where I live.

the staff are courteous, knowledgeable people who can help with anything you need,esp. regarding computers, etc.

there are TONS and tons of books and if they don't have it, you can use a nationwide search for the one you want & they will help you with it.

so I feel SOOOOOO sorry for all of you!!!

my only gripe is that there are many parents with small children, who never know how to act in a library, and NONE of these jackass parents will tell their kids to keep voice down, etc........

the kid will talk loud, yell, etc., and the parent goes...."SHHHHH" then after 1 second, the kid does it again, and the parent shushes them again.

now I'm no child care expert, but wouldn't you think the damn parent would TELL THE KID WHY THEY SHOULD BE QUIET!?!?!

OH WELL.......but that's the least of my problems compared to yours.

Maybe you could let the 'higher ups'know of your complaints? they'd be glad to help if they knew.

sincere thanks. but it is a shame that one must buy multiple books for in depth research/study vs. browsing/using at libraries. Same with ebooks...the college-level texts are not free. infact, not much cheaper than hard-bound.

These pdf's have all been altered. You need to go back to the original printed books, first editions.

You're not looking in the right places.

I was that child too. I don't know what would have become of me if it were not for the library. A safe space and all the world's knowledge for free.

I took a course in library science in high school...Even back in the 1970's the writing was on the wall for computer replacement of books. Electronic books can't get stolen (you just make another copy) but they can get altered and you are none the wiser. It's all about controlling history, they can influence the present. And of course, when the electricity goes out, you have nothing.

The reason I don't check out books to read anymore is because I have become a bit phobic about germs and don't want to read books others have handled, coughed into, read while sitting on the toilet, etc., lol. I used to never think about it...

All our money goes to the FED, WAR, WELFARE. Nothing left and the debt just keeps getting deeper.

It's a safe place for homeless people.

True story: Was at a local library and was standing near a table. There was a small wire carousel with books or pamphlets on it near the table.

A black woman who looked a little off and wearing loud print jammies or whatever with a butt that probably weighed a tenth of a ton came up and bent over in front of me, reaching for something on a lower rung of the carousel.

She then turned around and accused me of scoping her backside! hahahaha. It was classic!

This is because the publishers are all under the control of the money masters. They decide who gets the credit under their monopoly system. Control of thought is the ultimate target of this group.

My public library kicks ass. Sorry to hear others are having bad experiences, though.

BTW in Mexico they don't even HAVE libraries. They never did, because these creatures are illiterate.

I was in Hastings about 4 years ago, and glanced at the 'teen' section. It was wall to wall zombies, vampires, magic, etc.

We have no bookstores where I live now, save at Walmart.

That being said, I have purchased books for my lifetime for future reference.

I go to the library once a week to get books on CD, and a bunch of other books. Talk to your librarian and ask them to help you get hold of the geometry book (OP's post) or recommendations for great science fiction or whatever. My librarian just helped me with a huge project tracing the "ownership" of our land back to which Native communities used to live on it, including info about the actual group who lived there, not just the general Nation. Remember, too, that they are publicly funded, so if money is going to build another bomb, it's money being taken from schools and libraries etc.

Our small city has a nice library. I saw in the paper that men are having fistfights in the common areas. I take that to mean the large entry hall. So...not safe to go in or come out.
They have hired cops to do guard duty.

I remember when people knew how to behave in public places.

Guess the...erm...whatever....

AND...now the library is spending money on guards instead of books.
