Im looking for an alternative to Trump , but the shit this Yang asshole is throwing out there is about as nuts as Occasional Kotexs Green Deal.

$1000 a month free money? HA! You know what that opens the way to? Food and energy rationing.

Somebody is really pushing this guy and it seems to me they are sampling the populace's appetite for stomping out the free market.

Lol, your joking, right?

Because I want someone decent, honest, someone I can trust. So far Trump has been the opposite of that.

$1000 a month for 250 million Americans would equal 3 Trillion dollars every year

That's around 80% of the income and pay roll tax of the USA!

That alone shows :

a) Insanity
b) Criminal intent of destroying a nation
c) Aggravated stupidity
d) All the above
 Quoting: JADR+

Forget the 3 trillions- he wants to add universal health care too...cost 30 trillions

He is hopping that by taxing Google,Amazon,Facebook,Apple , it will pay for it.

I admit I’m no expert on UBI, haven’t looked into it, but the money stays in the US, right? It circulates and feeds the economy. It’s not like money is being destroyed.

As far as single payer healthcare, yeah, bring it on.
Fuck the insurance companies. Useless, parasitical middlemen who produce nothing but paperwork complications....

Yes, it stays in the economy.

These anti-Yang, anti-UBI morons seem to think the $2.5 Trillion in UBI will just somehow 'evaporate' and people won't spend it.

It's redistribution...of your own money.

It's redistribution...from the bottom-up.

It's redistribution...without the govt middle-man.

I've been automating people out of jobs for 20 years.

I came to the same conclusions as he did after a few years of watching the software I was creating "streamline business processes" and "create efficiencies" ... most of the companies I worked at shrank their workforces by 20 to 40% (my last company went from 1500 employees to 300) in the years I was working on these projects.

It wasn't because we were offshoring those jobs, or because illegal immigrants were taking them (illegal immigrants aren't accounting majors or loan processors or operations managers).

And I'm just SQL/.Net/BI developer. I don't make AI or manufacturing automation or logistics software ... I make applications that don't eliminate job titles, but they enable one employee to do the work of 3 or 4.

He's 100% correct about the real problem, and when you ruminate on that long enough ... he has the correct solution.

We have accomplished so, so much ... we've gotten so much out of our hard work since the industrial revolution. It's going to eat us alive unless we realize that this has been the goal all along (less toil, more leisure) and remove the stigma of "unemployment".

This is an environment where there truly is not enough good, rewarding work to go around in a lot of places ... because we worked ourselves out of work. There's no shame in that and we should all be better off for it not worse!
When the shit hits the fan and the end is just nigh, will you cry out to Heaven? Will you lie down and die? Not me, my dear one - THIS IS MY SACRED LIFE - to no one nor no thing I'll surrender. For how does one know where when dead she will go, or if sweet Mother Earth he'll remember? - Sug

the objection to Yang's ideas is based on old information assuming that
A our money is "hard"
B supply is limited.

our economy is SO FAR FROM THIS!!\

why hasn't QE brought massive inflation?
how do you feel about bailouts?
is it true that your income tax goes up in smoke as "interest" to the privately owned FedReserve?
is it true that we "borrow" dollars that the constitution says we can print without cost?

some more thoughts here..

Thread: how "real" is our economy? is Scarcity "real"? What is "Value"?

Trump was necessary, someone had to confront the cabal..

I think we're all on the same page so far..

but how far will he go? will he purge our central bank and attack ALL of our financial problems at the root? will we return to a hard, gold backed currency?

as long as we keep using fake debt notes owned by "the club" then it seems fitting to allow ourselves the smallest portion of the freedom of our masters.

oooh, I get it. lemme try a dif phrasing...

UAE (and a few more I think) gives a share of oil money to citizens.. companies return dividends..

America is already profitable, but the profits are burned as interest to a private group of banks in a sick game we have the constitutional power to avoid. but we don't..

we could issue currency instead of borrow it. but the last 2 president who moved forward with this legal authority were both murdered in front of their wives.

this is the digital version of bread and roses.. this the invention of the weekend all over again.

this is a chance to use our enemies favorite tool against them..

if we CANT HAVE constitutional money, then make the club share a little of our imaginary cash..

I can't buy the Mona Lisa on 250 a week, but I can buy renewables, which is job creation..

The next President(s), assuming the nation holds together until 2020 or 2024, will be more and more willing to campaign on ideas like universal basic income or medicare for all and similar because the economy will be much worse and people will be wanting the government to "fix" things.

All the old people on this site who receive social security and are on medicare yet complain about "socialism" are the definition of "cognitive dissonance".
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 76940185

Well Gosh. All you have to do is put in 15% of your earnings for a lifetime and then, you too, can get in on this pathetic socialism and maybe get a 1 or a 2% raise from time to time. That way you can drive a 20 year old car and live in a run down house like I do. Socialism and Communism are pathetic and only idiots want it.
If I had invested 15% of my earnings for 50 years, I'd be driving a new car. Every year.
I don't have the time or the crayons to explain this to you.

So it means quick and drastic INFLATION?

Yeah, i don’t think so.
I think you’re an amateur economist talking out of his ass.

Ok...mr know-it-all

Where does the value of money comes from?

Why does a cheap loaf of bred costs around $2 (where I live)

Who defines this value?

Re: Andrew Yang? Just Looked Him Up...FUUUUCK NOOO!
It would be a dangerous time if Yang is elected president (They) would likely never allow him to reach the final primaries. The military Industrial complex would lose trillions and the military quests of America and allies will be put to an abrupt end.

even IF you think that ubi is stupid...

isn't it interesting that after Trump won, there was finally a dem talking to regular Americans about prosperity instead of only standing up for gun control and 36 genders?

can you imagine using a time machine to show the present dem party to the 1970's Teamsters Union?

omg! there'd be a riot! knuckles flyin'! somebody might get hoffa'd!

There is a simple concept here.

What is free has no value.

Free money de-valuates money.

Yeah at first $1000 will be cool, it will not take long though for that $1000 to be equal to a bottle of wine & a pack of smokes.

Those who don't understand this have no economic credibility.

I know very little about UBI at this point. I haven’t visited Yang’s website or even listened to the Joe Rogan interview yet. But i think i get the gist of UBI and you are doing a feeble job opposing it.

Try again, because you’re just blowing smoke out of your ass as far as i can tell.

If you make a sensible point I’ll respond.
