Every single 'Monetized' Youtuber is about to go down HARD, due to Google's new $100 Million Dollar Content-ID System.
So basically, I have some experience with video making, but I have only ever done it for artistic fun and time wasting. The idea of making money off of artistic pissing in the wind seemed absurd to me, just like Bitcoin, which also conned many and resulted in big time money loss expenditures for the majority who got into it. Only the few came out on top.

Here's the story, this new $100 Million Dollar Content-ID system that Google has implemented is due to the fact that they had to pay out 3 BILLION dollars to the respective owners of the original content that 'users' were utilizing in their videos, and this includes people who had their content used by those not even monetized, and just making videos for fun, or to get the word out about some political matter. In legal speak, it's called 'Infringement' even just using 1 second of the content.

This Content ID system is so efficient, that it will block your video worldwide for just using 1-3 seconds of a song or video owned by someone else, without the proper licensing and a whole bunch of other legal documentation concerning what you're uploading, and what type of content it contains.

Youtube/Google is going to make the future of Video Uploading completely out of the logistical and financial means of the average man, making only the top Elite themselves the masters of this format.

The days of all of the people who thought they were going to make a living off being a Youtube video maker/Streamer are OVER. Things have obviously become very serious now for the Elite at Google, and they're out to get a big return on their very significant losses.(Over 3 Billion in losses)

Re: Every single 'Monetized' Youtuber is about to go down HARD, due to Google's new $100 Million Dollar Content-ID System.
Essentially, if you're some individual out there who has high hopes to become a Monetized Youtube Star, not only are you going to have to provide all of your own video, right down to the last pixel, but you'll also need to provide your own MUSIC, which means you'll have to make it yourself. (Not everyone uses music, but upwards of 70% do)

Typically, a Youtuber will use clips, both intros and outros, that rely on the music of others and sometimes the video as well. That's all coming to an end.

So now, you're forced to become a musician, just for the Intro/Outro and even mid point of your Video. This brings to light another issue, people stealing YOUR unique content, if you didn't get it licensed properly and put into the Content-ID database.

Then there is the actual Video itself, and what you're displaying. At this point, if it's anything other than you playing some video game (Which also may enter the Content-ID system without the proper license) then you are absolutely fucked, and even then, don't expect to make any money.

People like the Gun guys who purely shows off new weaponry and themselves firing it, will be fine, and will still get Monetized. This thread pertains to all of the other subjects that people make videos on.

If you look into this issue, many of the very big Youtubers, with Tens of Millions of views, are having their videos PULLED WORLWIDE, because they used 1-3 second clips of someone else's work. The majority of Youtubers have used many minutes of content owned by others.

The Hammer is dropping right now. If you were dumb enough to think this would be an efficient way of making a life for yourself, you thought wrong.

Some of you 'Monetized' individuals can also expect Major Lawsuits too, going up against Company Lawyers that don't lose.

They're going to take every penny back, and they've invested a lot of money to do it, and they've paid out to the rightful owners of the content used by millions of uploaders, even more. $3 Billion Dollars is a lot of money to have to pay, just because some person signed up for your website and used someone else's content.

They are PISSED, and out for blood.

This is very true, but it's not going to be some action packed flashy film, unless you have the capital and licensing to do that.

As a regular person, you're forced to either get on camera yourself, or point the camera at some object, and begin articulating your interpretation of some instance or situation, with literally no music or 3rd party content besides YOU. When we're talking Monetization, there's very little money in that.

This works in certain scenarios, like with a Historian sitting in front of a Camera giving a History lesson.

So far, books have not been banned in this Scenario, at least not ones from the WW2 era, but I'm sure with this new system, they're going to figure out a way to stop that from being done as well, especially with the emergence of AI, and its ability to interpret what you're talking about on a level much deeper than just 'Content Identification'.

In the future 'Content Identification' is going to be taken to a level so extreme, that Law Enforcement and the Government as a whole will be using it for normal day to day affairs, because of its ability to track, trace and UNDERSTAND.

If it can identity 1-3 seconds of a song, no matter what type of Pitch manipulation has been done to the song, then it can also recognize your voice, no matter how hard you try to distort it, and also much more. That's only one minor example, analyzers that interpret the way you walk and analyze your face (Facial Recognition) already exist and are quite active, more so in China than here at the moment, but that's going to change.

Big Brother is here, and not only is he kicking you the hell off youtube, he's also going to take all of his money back, and simultaneous use similar technology to track your every move, utterance, and thought.

Would you name a couple, please? Some of the people I'd like to follow on YT have been talking about all the words they dare not use. War is just one. They are not free to speak their content any more - it all requires extreme caution and a number are going to code words, sending a copy to the followers.

Seems like I used to hear a phrase, "Freedom of speech". I must have imagined it, or perhaps it was so long ago it's nearly forgotten by everyone. Seemed like a righteous idea, though, didn't it?

I agree with you. I suspect that Youtube is eventually going to fail as a media hosting format and reshape their entire business model into more of a 'Netflix' operation, but they have some very high powered players behind them, including the Government itself, which can pressure the smaller media hosting companies to capitulate, should they become too popular.

The Iron fist is coming down, and unlike the Bush years and even the Obama years, Internet Freedom is coming to an end in many ways. It's not just 'Content Identification' and infringement of licensed work of others, it's about the very thoughts of human beings.

Although you wouldn't know it with the way the President handles himself, in every other Sphere of life, it's becoming nearly ILLEGAL to hold individual opinions and views, especially if they're Conservative/Right, or even just 'Normal' modes of thought, if you adhere to no Political party like I do.

I'm Pro-Life, Pro Marriage between a Man and a Woman, don't think Transgender nonsense should be promoted everywhere, and support closed borders with strong defenses against what is now a clearly hostile force of people we really don't understand. That should be common knowledge though, I don't think that makes me far right. People on the 'left' should see this too, and both parties should have seen it a long time ago concerning the border situation.

Anyhow, life is going to change a lot, and become increasingly 'Controlled' for you, against your will in reality. Demonetizing Youtubers for using 3 seconds of someone else's content, which would usually be considered 'fair usage' is only the very beginning of what they have in store for us.

I made this post not just to inform you that a bunch of Youtubers will likely be Committing suicide quite soon, but also to warn you about the future. Think about Windows 10 as a good example, just a piece of Garbage of an Operating system, with a Telemetry system that continuously sends back your data, and an Update system that can't be disabled.

This is the Future, enjoy the years that we had.

The OP isn't bullshitting, check this out.

[link to venturebeat.com (secure)] - "YouTube: We’ve invested $100 million in Content ID and paid over $3 billion to rightsholders"

Paul Sawers -

As part of longstanding efforts to prove that it’s serious about combating piracy, Google today revealed some updated numbers from across its various digital products.

Arguably the most interesting figure from the company’s latest How Google Fights Piracy report relates to YouTube’s Content ID. Indeed, Google revealed that it has spent more than $100 million on the technology since its inception, including computing resources and staffing, up from $60 million two years ago.

And it has also now doled out more than $3 billion to rightsholders, up from “over $2 billion” in 2016 and $1 billion two years before that.

A decade of Content ID
From as far back as 2007, YouTube has offered Content ID — or Video Identification, as it was previously known — which automatically identifies copyrighted content on the video-streaming service and asks the rightsholders what they would like to have happen next. They may choose to monetize the video by showing ads, or they may request that the video be blocked.

Earlier this year, YouTube revealed that it would begin using Content ID data to display full music credits and link to the official videos.

There are downsides to the automated technology though. For example, a short non-publicly listed video of your kid performing in a school show that just happens to have some barely audible music playing in the background can be targeted by Content ID, with little recourse for appeal. But by and large, the technology serves as an effective way to give copyright holders a say in how their content is used.

In its latest report, Google said that 98 percent of copyright claims in 2017 were made through Content ID, and more than 90 percent of Content ID claims lead to some form of monetization. Additionally, the company noted that it paid out more than $1.8 billion to the music industry in ad revenue from October 2017 to September 2018.

A type of Communism is coming, and these things we're seeing are just steps in that direction. In reality though, it's all about full control of everything. Look at how China censors their internet, if you dare upload anything even the least bit subversive, they'll know who did it, and come after you. Citizens have a Governmental vetting system, which includes a compilation of their work habits, facial recognition statistics regarding location, political views, internet activity, and cell phone activity.
There's a damn good reason why when you go into a video game like PubG, the only thing that your 300 ping Chinese opponents are able to muster is "China Number 1". China is NOT THAT DIFFERENT THAN NORTH KOREA AT ALL. Those people are so brainwashed, and also incredibly surveilled, from sun up to sun down, all while breathing in toxic air, and working for pennies. I'm not sure how many people in China even own a real computer, most people go to 'Lan Cafes' it's a theme we've heard about often, even going as far as for people to stay up for 30 hours playing Counter Strike and then fall over and die right there at the cafe. You were warned.

Re: Every single 'Monetized' Youtuber is about to go down HARD, due to Google's new $100 Million Dollar Content-ID System.
You can make videos without using other peoples stuff you know?
The problem is they love to block original work claiming false copywrite infringement.
