It's been present in every society across cultures, borders and throughout human history.

Not exactly something "new". But nowhere did I hear "normal" come into it. That's just someone's interpretation, which leads to sensationalist titles for crazy threads, in order to incite emotional, triggered reactions!

Yeah so some societies viewed it as normal, even healthy in some cases, like the Greeks. But they had their codes and ethics as well. That can be debated on merit by today's standards but the facts are it existed as such.

Easier to insult, threaten and overreact than actually try to understand the nuances of a given subject.
