samsung flat panel TV sets- MISSING BASIC FEATURES
when using over the air antenna with ANY samsung TV you scan for active channels in your area to add them to the memory

than you move the rotatable antenna to a different azimuth to receive other channels being transmitted from different locations

- there is no way to ADD new channels without doing complete scan which ERASES channels previously added with original antenna azimuth

Every channel scan erases previously remembered channels and there's no way to keep them

I need to program in groups of channels coming in from 4 different azimuths

there is literally no way to do this because the programmers of the user interface never foresaw such simple basic situation

their customer service is just layers and layers of reps who can't do anything and will not put in a request for such basic feature update
there's nobody to contact

their tvs are useless because of this

They all work that way.

You can usually manually add channels. But a scan overwrites the previous channel lineup.

THAT is the thing I dislike about my newer Samsung. One can NOT keep the existing channels when adding new ones, NO manual add of channels allowed. A complete rescan is required every time you want to change your antenna's direction.

It is like Samsung thinks people with a TV ONLY live in a city AND all the TV stations are all IN THE SAME DIRECTION from the viewer's house!!

Sheesh.

For me it was almost a deal breaker when I was buying the Samsung. I bought it anyway but it means that I have to use my secondary tuner (which I port in through an accessory HDMI port) when I want to watch programs that are coming from a different area, requiring the antenna to turn, unless I want to trash the existing programmed in channels on the Samsung TV and do a total rescan (I have an over the air DVR type recorder that has two tuners built in - and also allows Manual Add of channels, which is what I use as a tuner when I switch antenna directions ... I have it programed with ALL the channels that I can receive as the antenna turns)

This was a HUGE oversight imo by Samsung. As a result it may be the last Samsung TV I buy. (though I like everything else about the TV)

WOW
i mean wow

maybe look up FREE TO AIR and come back to me why you can't save more than one set of channels in ANY TV EVER MADE because they only have one memory, unless you buy several FREE TO AIR boxes so that you can save each set of channels onto them .....

you thought it was a memory slot for each channel didn't you?

it just doesn't work like that i'm afraid

what you want is overly complicated and would need each box controlled by a central box thing, but i've never heard of this for free to air products, as it simply wouldn't be worth while

but you shouldn't need to move the antenna at all, otherwise no signal

dish systems perhaps but not this

sorry

By using an over-the-air antenna, you are defeating some of Samsungs most popular features, such as the ability of Samsung to watch and listen to you at all times, and send those images and audio clips to a "third party". Shame on you.

I would be willing to bet money that not one single samsung (or insert any other company here) "customer service rep" could even spell azimuth, let alone know what it is.

Re: samsung flat panel TV sets- MISSING BASIC FEATURES
I have a pretty new Samsung tv. I don't use it directly off of an antenna, but on my tv there is the option of creating a "favorites list" of the channels that I like the most. You might be able to set your antenna in position A, do a channel scan, and then add the channels you want to the "favorites list". Then go to antenna position B, re-scan the channels and add those new channels to your favorites list, etc. I would assume that the favorites list doesn't clear automatically when you rescan the channels since it is all created manually to begin with. I haven't tried this myself, but it's just a thought.

Try and buy another antenna and get an antenna combiner, then do away with the rotor.

WRONG

You can NOT have the newer type Samsung TV list all 70+ FCC allocated channels (frequencies) in it's "Channel List", it just won't do it (at least none of the several Sumsung TV's I looked at when I was buying mine would NOT allow you to do that).

To get ANY over the air signals the Samsung TV REQUIRES you to SCAN for signals ... and it does NOT allow you add any other channels other than what it's scan picked up and it does NOT have a master channel (FCC frequency) list.

As for Omni Directional Antennas ... well they work great "IF" you are close enough to the transmitters to NOT NEED a directional antenna. Beyond 45 miles from the transmitter antenna though they are next to useless (most don't even work well at 30 miles), which is why one has a directional antenna to begin with.

sherlock

there aint no multi band high gain omnidirectional antenna on the market that's worth buying
if there was it would have to have 6 or more colinear elements for 3 or 4 different chunks of the spectrum or more
that would be several hundred dollars and 20 feet long because of all the coupling caps and inductors

the only way to go is rotatable yagi or rotatable gain anything so don't give me your brilliant ideas unless you know what you're talking about...

digital 2019 dtv still works the same way any other RF signal does
you still need a gain antenna for stations beyond ~~25miles away depending on terrain and elevation

On the one TV I have an antenna and a box that plugs into the TV, so when scanning for channels they stay there, I assume in the box. But where I am I only pick up 14 at the most so it doesn't take long.
