Re: Asteroids Thread - Destination: Hall of Fails
If anything, it might be the “3 days of darkness” we recently got warnings about. In my opinion, that’s code for the big power grid shutdown, the big unplug. The lights will go out everywhere, but likely there will be no asteroids hitting. No one would be able to get news in this scenario, so there would be no way of knowing if asteroids hit in other places besides where you are. But if any news can be spread, it might be that asteroids did hit (but that wont be true), in order to keep people from moving around.

During this time my guess is, that in certain locations (cities), people running these heinous crime syndicates will be rounded up. If no news can get out, it will all be a secret. Maybe limited power will be restored in rural areas and smaller towns after that.

I am only guessing, but this is what my intuition is giving me. I think it is still a good idea to get prepped.

Lol the three days of darkness we were RECENTLY warned about.

The first time the three days of darkness bullshit was supposed to happen was for August 2014.

Well, I read it all and didn't check every link, but all the articles and written word links.

So, something's up.

But we can't get above 500 meters (about 1625') above sea level. But we are very inland, so I guess we shall see.

Also, in case there is full on doom, it's been nice hanging out with all of you good peeps on here! Wishing good things for everyone!

My watch currently shows me at -44M laugh

I'm in the same boat (no pun intended,) although due to the steep rise of our island I'm probably somewhere around 40ft even though I'm a block from shore. But we'll have a bit more time, we're protected by Vancouver Island, I'm on the inside strait.

Time to put the lifejackets on the tomato plants and shave my wife and dog, I hope!

CHECK OUT THAT VIDEO...DAAAAMN (Tunguska video)...

They already passed, but they were only discovered a month before...so for all you tards who say, "uhhh...a million amateur astronomers would uh...already have seen a big asteroid in the billions of miles of possible space out there...uhhh." Yeah, miss me with that stupid shit. These are two, two hundred foot (think twenty story building) asteroids that were only seen by JPL last month.

METEORS FROM HALLEY'S COMET: Earth is approaching a stream of debris from Halley's Comet, source of the annual eta Aquariid meteor shower. If forecasters are correct, the shower will peak on May 5th with as many as 40 meteors per hour. The best time to look is during the dark hours before sunrise on Sunday. Eta Aquariids are fast, moving at 66 km/s (148,000 mph), and often trace long bright paths across the sky. Set your alarm and enjoy the show.

So...this meteor shower may have some very large chunks in it, who knows.

Disagree. ELE's have appened during the lifetime of humanity, and we have survived. Estimates of the number of humans that survived Toba, for example, vary a bit, as low as 1000 reproductive humans to as many as 10,000, but no more.

Now, that was a GLOBAL catastrophe with a years' long effect range, on a populace with NO way to prepare, no technological assistance, and no stockpiles of readily usable materials. We'd have a far greater advantage at this point from a survival standpoint, the key would be surviving the INITIAL effects. Once that's over with, theoretically a small population could survive a LONG time simply by scavenging non-perishables, never mind restarting agriculture, etc if viable.

Doesn't mean we CAN'T be wiped out, it's just a lot less likely, and moreso if enough people are preparing for these kinds of scenarios.

Okay...I'm watching the six asteroids of I Pet Goat II.
Asteroid #1 - Path is towards Syria & Turkey
Asteroid #2 - Path is towards the Mediterranean, Sicily, Sardinia then Spain.
Asteroid #3 - Hits the large Pyramid at Giza
Asteroid #4 - Path is towards Libya and Algeria
Asteroid #5 - Path is towards Syria & Turkey again
Asteroid #6 - Path is towards Portugal

Now angles of incoming may reach lesser or further but from the POV of the video...that is the direction each fireball went.

Interesting thing was...The hit on the big pyramid caused the collapse of the other two smaller ones.

Puget Sound area here. Around 150 ft and a mile from the water in Kitsap County. So a not very close neighbor to Pooka, but will be in what the local emergency people expect to be listed as a 'kill zone'. According to them, they don't expect to try to do anything west of the I-5.

So, if we survive the initial onslaught, we'll just have to rely on our own emergency people, and the Navy and Marines stationed here.

Well, it's short term doom, which is good in its own way. I have some water jugs to fill up and add bleach to. Will keep an eye on this thread.

And Mountain Tux, we have family up in your area, on the Sunshine Coast. So, stay safe.bump

If the theory of far more extensive tunneling under the Giza Plateau is correct, and in fact there IS an ancient city down there, that could make sense. Also, the concussive wave from the impact would be immense, so it's not an unlikely happenstance.

Ahh, nice, neighbors! We're on the Vancouver Island side of the strait, North tip off of Mcneill. So we sort of miss the initial wave unless it comes down from Alaska, but have to worry about the funnel effect. Gives us a bit more time at least, and as we're right on the JDF faultline at it's northernmost point, we're always prepped for EQ / tsunami. Personally, tsunami is a better bet for us - our island is actually part of a sunken archipelago, and would likely be subject to liquefaction in the case of a large EQ.

Interesting story, the local Namgis have a legend that they saw this island rise from the sea, and that it will return to the sea eventually. They claim this land, but have NEVER lived on this island. They would come from Alert Bay to hunt and clam, so had camps, but never any permanent habitation, even when they had a really large population.

Nice to "meet" you!

Start with yourself. Could you ever 100% trust your parents, your spouse, your kids??? How many times in your [long] life have you been lied to, or used a lie to achieve some goal? Multiply that by a thousand, or a million.

Politicians lie. What a surprise.

Life is cheating. Grow up.

Can't have too much potty paper, agreed. Also, can't have too much water. Please don't forget the water. That's my mission for today- washing and bleaching buckets and filling them. I want my own clean water as long as possible before having to strain and boil rain water. If this happens in summer, there won't be rainwater to use. UhOh!
