Anonymous Coward 12/08/2005 10:17 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | So this will be our third annual Thanksgiving camping trip. We take a ham, the weather is always cool. Itīs wonderful. We appreciate what weīre really thankful for. Wish you could come with us. |
Black 12/08/2005 10:17 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | iīve spent a few thanksgivings alone before... itīs nice. i enjoyed it quite a bit. rent some movies. get a couple bottles of red wine, take some mushrooms, and there you have it. a perfect feast. and in my case, so much better than seeing the family i donīt like or donīt even know at this point. have a good one OP. |
AlphaBitch 12/08/2005 10:17 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Lonliest, I am being a bitch this year and have made the choice to forgo all holidays. Of course, thatīs different from being alone against your wishes. Maybe you can volunteer at a soup kitchen for the homeless, etc. if you really donīt want to be alone. |
wasteland 12/08/2005 10:17 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | this year i am planning to. in the past i ve spent it with friends and family. while i appreciated them for feeding me, i was very uncomfortable being around everyone. Im telling everyone that im allergic to people, in hopes that they wont try to include me this year. in finding myself this year i have found that i like to be alone. i dont mind brief encounters. as long as they stay that way. lol no people no drama except what i make. |

Anonymous Coward 12/08/2005 10:17 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | My wife and I got sick and tired of the tug of war between our families over thanksgiving. We tried inviting them to our house but that was somehow unaceptable. So 3 years ago we stopped going and now itīs just us and our kids. Itīs a lot better this way. No getting up early to get ready or sitting in traffic for hours and then dodging the drunks on the way home. |

O-Ren 12/08/2005 10:17 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Im kinda looking forward to thanksgiving this year. Dad has passed away (unfortunatly)and mom will be in Florida, so its just me and the sibs and our spouses and kids. Each bringing a fat sack to share, some good eats...sounds very relaxing for a change. |

Anonymous Coward 12/08/2005 10:17 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Ahhh, sad! I ate Christmas dinner at Dennys one year, it was so depressing! I agree with the above poster who suggested a nursing home or shelter. One year my kids were gone to CA with their dad for X-Mas, and a couple of friend and I baked cookies and collected gifts for a womens and childrens shelter and took them there. That was actually a wonderful Christmas! |
Love 12/08/2005 10:17 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Iīve been alone and not-alone. There really is no difference. Being with people just to be with them doesnīt make anyone not-alone. We all are alone. Being in a group or crowd is an illusion. You will be OK, and if you cherish the day and cherish your Self you will actually have fun!You get to spend a day thanking your Self for your life. If you choose. It is just your time to have yourself all to yourself. And weīre with you energetically anyway. love to you |

Anonymous Coward 12/08/2005 10:17 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Lonliest, family gathgerings are WAY overrated. Be glad of the peace and few obligations. Donīt let one day make you feel shittier than the previous day...thereīs no real difference. I wish I was spending Thanksgiving alone....but I guess I canīt pretend I have the flu EVERY year! |

OP 12/08/2005 10:17 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Thatīs very sweet, Lisa! Iīm way up north in the Tomball/Magnolia area. I appreciate it, though. Whatīs so frustrating is how all year I make so many friends and stuff, but when the holidays come around, one by one, they disappear, and never even say why. |

peterpeccary 12/08/2005 10:17 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I think the programming is what makes us feel depressed during the holidays.....The big family sitting around the table with a picture perfect turkey being carved.....I get along with the family & relatives, but my most memorable holidays were doing something different & alone....hiking, climbing,etc.... I politely decline invitations to big holiday get togethers....people seem to try too hard to fit into that picture perfect script....I know when these events are over, I feel relieved.... You can have a nice alternative holiday.... |

jcd 12/08/2005 10:17 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I am just the opposite of most. The closer it gets to the holidays, I practically invite anyone I hear say I will be alone. Even customers here at the store. Never had anyone take me up on it yet though. Maybe they are afraid to eat with a crazy lady! hheheheh |
