Mainstream adoption is happening and it's just a matter of time before it's adopted and leveraged by just about every company in existence. It's like email or a website... you won't be in business unless you accept crypto.

Even facebook isn't ignoring crypto and blockchain:
“Like many other companies, Facebook is exploring ways to leverage the power of blockchain technology. This new small team is exploring many different applications. We don’t have anything further to share.”

Essentially microsoft is seeking to hop on the bitcoin/blockchain bandwagon to garner USER TRUST in their long term goals, all while simultaneously saving everybodys private keys for...security purposes.

Hint: This is great for blockchain and bitcoin but not great for you to use. Don't let microsoft store your private keys unless you are okay with your private keys being sold to the highest bidders in a few years when bitcoin is over 80K

My god.. You crypto nuts are baffling in your stupidity.

The only thing they are going to do, is to decentralize and use the inherent difficulty of faking a blockchain to ensure that you cannot... CANNOT! be anonymous.

They will use it to counterweight every movement online, and make sure that everything you do can be traced back to one single identity.

I regret it now and I look at this as a second chance. I invested $100 and if it fails it fails and I only lost $100... But if it doesn't I'll be a happy camper

Law enforcement standard procedure is spreading FUD on systems that are hardest for them to breach.

I believe it'll be banned in the near future.

Ok...

1. Establish a baseline service, could be as simple as your email, but will probably be something like your bank account. This is now "protected for privacy" through blockchain.

Everytime you open another account, anywhere, you'll have to use a secured service to validate it. So every new service is now tied into your verified identity.

Anything after that, can simply be traced back, because it's very hard to hack a blockchain, so you can't be anonymous anymore at all.

Any service that exists outside of your verified identity chain can simply be flagged as something like "aiding terrorism" and now, having it becomes a crime.

The only way to avoid that is to own the whole network end -to- end and have total personal control of your account.

See any problem there?

Absolutely. As long as your crypto behavior is tied to a bank, you're going to get charged for it. Interest, fees, you name it. They will try to profit off of your decisions.

Last namedrop for me today, but Apollo is the only crypto that has a network ready for you to buy and sell crypto & cash out at ATMs without ID. Anyone concerned about your privacy or banks knowing what you do with your money can find solutions with apollo. K i'm done mentioning apollo, it's just so easy to mention when most ppls concerns are cured by their network/currency.

Also, all it would take is for one big hacking scandal and that could spell the end to crypto.

Well neverfear, brethren! There are blockchains and companies known as 'oracles' that act as mediators between different companies and blockchains.

These oracles are the solution to the immense diversity within the crypto/blockchain community. There will be a handful of oracles out there that will eventually eat eachother up via partnerships until there is one master oracle able to handle the majority of the most desirable functions.

blockchain is still being advanced upon

tbf, there is one - used heavily on the darknet drug markets - designed using ring signatures, which provide certain mathematical guarantees of anonymity. It has some heavyweight academics behind it.

"It is more difficult to follow the money with Monero," said Torbjorn Bull Jenssen, an investor and chief executive of Arcane Crypto, a firm that works with cryptocurrencies. "It has gained some attention among criminals, although its safety might be false: Academic papers have already shown its anonymity has cracks and flaws."

The flaws referred to have been fixed with the new RingCT technique.

I was responding to [what seemed to be] your misconception that all blockchains are inherently traceable. That's not true.

There are a few that use highly complex mathematics to record the payment chain without containing any meaningful trace of your public key/address.

This is not only popular on the drug markets - go look at all the major crypto ransoms. Every time, the perp either requests or transfers (afterward) the funds through Monero, effectively breaking their trail.

That's why monero et al will never be allowed mainstream. Because your conspiracy is correct......

Not only will they not be allowed into mainstream if they can maintain separation. But they'll be rendered illegal and thus made into red flags by simply connecting to / Using.

And while they may not be able to discern your identity in the chain, they WILL be able to link back your identity to having connected to it, which means it's game over.

IN addition, the probable way to achieve this will be to put some kind of environmental tax on product shipments.

I.e. Any product shipped needs to have paid the tax. Which of course will be directly traceable.

If a product hasn't paid the tax, it will be illegal for post, logistics, or courier services to transport it.

So now, your "secret" transaction has to be accompanied by a traceable one. Which makes any dark pool of transaction churning an immediate red flag. Etc. etc. etc.

The main problem with the crypto nuts is that they think they're smarter than the collective power of the government, and that's only true as long as the gov't doesn't really care about it.

as soon as the cost in revenue becomes noticeable, they'll find a workaround to crush it. And this system by MS is a perfect start.

I draw your attention to this GLP OP from 2013.

You were warned then and warned again today.
