Actually whenever there's a king there's a dozens courtiers. Even in modern times whenever someone claims to be famous and wealthy you'll find them surrounded by hangers on, aka courtiers of a sense.

I've gone by boat, plane, car, and foot.

Now I feel like I should have gone by bike at some point.

Fair enough. I've never been easily star struck, though.

I actually had a famous person offer to bang me on a regular basis and I happily turned them down because they really weren't my type.

(That and the offer sounded like a bad version of 50 Shades, and that movie is bad enough already)

I live near a beach but never go to it because I can't be bothered. It's a public beach so you can't drink alcohol, otherwise you get charged with drunk and disorderly in public.

I thought every woman wanted a famous billionaire to tie them up and spank them...

They find all sorts of ways to suck the fun out of life, don't they?

I'm planning to do just that sometime this winter, can't wait.

To be honest I wouldn't want a female billionaire either. All that limelight with the paparazzi trying to take photos of your Bojangles...

Fame brings a curse to people unaccustomed to it. Everyone wanting to know everything about you to figure out how to screw you over and get away with it.

Bill Gates has to employ bodyguards for his kids because of their immense wealth and the fact it makes them a target.

Sure I could and do buy lotto tickets for hundreds of millions of dollars. But if I won, it would root my life as I know it.

That's why I only want to win a couple of million because it grants me the middle class lifestyle while blending in with anonymity of the masses.

I wasn't born in. I was dragged in to do the work. There's a difference. A big one. Anyone who told you slavery is dead "because people follow rules" was an asshole while you were an idiot for believing it.

Although, in the case I was referring to, this person started as a piranha and clawed their way up...so they had a really shitty personality.

I didn't manipulate anyone. I set rules. The people agreed with the rules. They acted as if they respected the rules as social norms.

The second I left, they reverted. The second a drug dealer took the vacant leadership role, they became addicts.

People really are worthless on their own.

And they "appeared" somewhat intelligent when given proper guidance to appear intelligent.

..and I'm literally referring to one project in this case, not a lifetime career of mine.

Even when people know that something somewhere is very wrong, they don't want to rock the boat because they believe that to do so will cause them to be punished somehow by someone in authority.

Yes, this is widespread.
It doesn't mean that people are stupid.
It means that they don't want to mess with power.

First, personality and chemistry matter. How many "rich" people are you going to find with the right one?

Second - power imbalances are incredibly bad in a relationship. Some bondage in the bedroom is one thing, but when the person you're dating owns the police and you can't get out of the relationship - you've moved onto levels of bondage that aren't fun. Also, their money's still theirs. It aint yours.

The only rule I gave to them - was no crack. They could have access to every other drug, and god knows they were flowing in, but there was no crack allowed over the lines into the neighborhood.

Three years they followed it.
Three years the residents did not do the drug.
Mind you, I also had to negotiate with the local gangs to keep it on their side, but I assure you, keeping the crack money did not make them unhappy.

Three weeks after I left, half the community was on crack.
