Any radiation poisoning in your field of travel?

I try to avoid it O.o

Some of the scientists were a little too enmeshed in it for comfort.

Actually. There was a place that everyone thought was "about to blow."

It wasn't.

....

It was a silo.

They had contracted a local militia/tweekers to do the security, and had maybe lied to them a bit about what they were protecting.

They thought they were protecting something with a nuclear reactor that needed work done constantly.

This little lie allowed us to get a flow of "scientists" (some were) safely past the security and into the lower levels.

The militia had no access to the lower levels and had been scared out of them to be honest because of "radiation."

It is slavery to do for people whom you do not love.

I'm trying to remember your past posts.

So, it was your legal guardians who put you into this life?

I don't know what you mean by "standing directly next to a fire"? You were forced to manipulate people whom you call stupid because they believed you?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 73686564

I didn't manipulate anyone. I set rules. The people agreed with the rules. They acted as if they respected the rules as social norms.

The second I left, they reverted. The second a drug dealer took the vacant leadership role, they became addicts.

People really are worthless on their own.

And they "appeared" somewhat intelligent when given proper guidance to appear intelligent.

..and I'm literally referring to one project in this case, not a lifetime career of mine.
 Quoting: TlvmmCpoft

You manipulated the "authority bias."

I've come across that in my life.

Even when people know that something somewhere is very wrong, they don't want to rock the boat because they believe that to do so will cause them to be punished somehow by someone in authority.

Or, they believe that somehow something good will come out of their doing wrong for someone in authority.

Yes, this is widespread.
It doesn't mean that people are stupid.
It means that they don't want to mess with power.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 73686564

The only rule I gave to them - was no crack. They could have access to every other drug, and god knows they were flowing in, but there was no crack allowed over the lines into the neighborhood.

Three years they followed it.
Three years the residents did not do the drug.
Mind you, I also had to negotiate with the local gangs to keep it on their side, but I assure you, keeping the crack money did not make them unhappy.

Three weeks after I left, half the community was on crack.
 Quoting: TlvmmCpoft

So, you were dealing with people who were already drug addicts? That bit of information makes a big difference.
This is not about level of intelligence.

The militia thought they were going to "save America" or some shit by having a missile under their control (it wasn't theirs and they weren't the ones in control). They were fucking crazy.

It was actually really terrifying getting past them, even with the top guy giving us a path in.

It wasn't any easier on the way out, either. They got paranoid about several of us.

I started doing the "I'm on your side" body language where you start moving more shoulder to shoulder with them in opposition to who is bothering them. It was easy in that case since a woman was literally hysterical, which made her an easy target for their paranoia. I would have done anything at that point not to get fucking shot.

This sounds to me like the milgram experiment, in which you were both participant and experimenter.

I don't believe that you are a bad person.

And maybe the people who sent you on bad business weren't bad people either.

Maybe they felt as though they had to do these things to save the country.

But it's a slippery slope that's left you with a bad taste in your mouth.

I knew a lifer mil. with a psych phd.

He did some very bad things in my building that harmed me as well as others but, as he himself said, he couldn't help but help me because he knew somewhere that he was wrong.

I was in the silo that day to read the ridiculously thick rules manual on research design within the limitations of a clandestine organization. There were two layers of rules to follow, and organizational always won. Science came second.

I was not a scientist.

I was not a volunteer.

I was not a new hire, not by the traditional sense of the word, anyway.

The guardian I had been stuck with was a scientist within that organization, and also very fucking corrupt, as many of them were and still are.

They signed me up for the gig - funded by your taxes - had me show up now and then (drugged half of the time, not by my choice 100% of the time, and with no compensation) - and then proceeded to "write in" the rest of the work and collect the pay checks. Essentially, identity theft.

That's where your money goes.

Don't lecture me on morality. You've never even been to my level.

You know what the most annoying part is?

Right now you're thinking:

As if they were you.

You know what the most annoying part is?

Right now you're thinking:

"No, people couldn't get away with that. There are rules and regulations that have to be followed. They couldn't break the rules."

As if they were you.

It's some sort of psychological block ordinary people seem to have.

I grew up around someone who didn't have that block, at all. How they looked at other people was just...like they were dumb, malleable, sheep.

But how they moved - was incredible. No door, no law, no social norm or expectation stood in their way.

They were free to roam, take, live, and destroy.

Yet, knowing there aren't actual boundaries where generally accepted rules and limitations are (not even talking laws, just the ones society and we ourselves impose) has allowed me to reach so much further in this life.

Is this why, at the same time as you try to ascend some kind of moral high ground of victimhood, you also feel superior to others?

There's alot of static on this site, but it is still a ct site and has still knowledgeable posters.

Or maybe you just can't help manipulating people, or choose not to do so.

This is why LARP is called on you.

I don't play victim, dear.

I have been through what I have been through.

I am what I am.

The sum of my experiences, not your pathetic limited ones that can't - and more importantly don't want to - see past the lid of the box.

But you can't really hear anything but your own oddly jealous whining, can you?

You've probably witnessed things in person and buried them immediately rather than letting the tiniest bit of light enter your brain, for fear that it might make you less of an asset, less liked, less wanted.

And because you think "it cant happen to me" "it cant happen to anyone I know "it can't happen to anyone unless the news tells me so" "the laws don't allow that unless its the guy the news anchor told me got away with it."

You spoke of your life as though you had been abused.

Now you insult as though from a height--"your pathetic limited ones," etc.

Did you retire and did gov. give you money?
Did your handler-parents give you money?

What makes you feel superior, that you can violate what most people consider polite behavior, much of which is I-don't- want-to-deal-with-this or -you behavior?

Some people are not just poor but uneducated.
Is this how you treat everyone?

You sound like a nineteen-year-old who just read nietzsche.

Okay. A) Slavery does not come with a trust fund. I assume you;re on some sort of socio-economic war path, so I thought you might want to know.

It also doesn't mean a person can't stand back up and take control of their life.

No one has to follow your retarded rules of "once you are made something you will be it for life and only that one thing, you will have no other skills, experiences, facets, or thoughts."

If someone has been through experiences in life other than just exclusively rainbows, and instead has a full breadth of experience that they share - the good, the bad, the interesting, and the ugly - it does not immediately make them "a welfare queen of victimhood."

In fact, that's a type of conclusion only an abuser or exploiter would come to.

And you do seem to be trying to attack me on a personal level, so I have to ask.

Who have you abused that you need to try to go after everyone you perceive as a victim in your desperate attempt to keep that control?

Get a life.

You couldn't hit me on "victim" but damn did you try.

But you still didn't like me talking about something, so now you've hit for the third time on perceived "arrogance/ high socio economic status" as the other possible flaw/something to target.

And when that appeared to be slipping, you threw in "drugs" out of sheer desperation in hopes maybe that would make people not listen if you couldn't personally shut me up.

You forgot to hit me for being a woman.

And you also forgot to poke at my flag.

But other than that, congrats, someone gave you all the troll tools.

Yeah the "do as I say, not as I do" conditioning is strong in me. Being reared in the typical system of Christian Mores all of my life, I personally can't help but believe them. That's just true for me. But I do realize they are constructs that are not universal. Through experience I know that others can manipulate me through my beliefs. My beliefs, through conditioning, are my psychological block. That's probably true for some others. For the rest, I swear, and this sounds totally elitist, cold, and cruel, there are others that seem to operate as mostly mindless, soulless beings. The whole NPC Meme phenomena cuts right down to it.
