I don't like the shia-islamists ruling in Iran now. But I like the Saudis even less, and Iran is a counter-force to the Saudis. By crushing Iran, the Saudis will gain power in the region. The Saudis' form of islami, wahabism, is ideologically similar to the Islamic State. The Saudis have backed IS from the start, as well as Erdogan and Obama. But the Saudis did it for idealogical and strategic reasons, not tactical.
