I believe it will be a crustal shift. I don't think there is a way to prepare for this except on a spiritual level.
New Madrid earthquake will be the trigger.
The signs point to it - the last solar eclipse went right through the epicenter horizontally - the next will cross through vertically.

It's not that hard to get airborne, and landing isn't an issue as long as there's an ILS beacon still transmitting, but even assuming the fuel was topped off, you'd be looking at 20ish hours airborne max. And how exactly do you get poles on a flat earth? I'm not going to worry about it.
