It’s simple. I remember the cadence from last year’s seconds, and I count them in my head with my stopwatch running. I counted 10 seconds then pressed stop, and guess what happened? It read 13 seconds. So it’s 30% faster than last year.
Algebra:
1.3x = 24 hours 24 / 1.3 = x x = 18.46 hours
So, in 18.46 hours from 2018, you get 24 hours from 2019. Because 18.46 x 1.3 = 24. Meaning today’s time is 30% faster.
Subtraction:
24 - 18.46 = 5.54 hours.
Conclusion:
Each day is now 5.54 hours shorter than exactly a year ago, with time increasing ever faster.
That’s all it takes, very simple. I’m sure you still remember last years cadence, or was that too long ago for you?
