First time I quit I started putting fudge center lollipops in my shirt pocket where I used to put my cigs. When I got the urge to smoke I would pop a lollipop instead.
It satisfied the physical component as well (opening the paper wrapping, putting in mouth, sucking on it, etc) Still had to smoke one occasionally when I really needed it.
Temporary replacement therapy. Don't deny yourself a smoke if you really need it, but the urge will go away after a while.
