Quit cold turkey. Once you've gotten past day 3 or 4 but still vaguely remember wanting a cigarette, go directly into a bar with TONS of people smoking around you.

That's exactly what worked for me when I wanted to quit.

It's the pitfalls you REALLY have to avoid. I got trapped back into smoking by smoking a cuban cigar.
