Anonymous Coward User ID: 77680380 United Kingdom 06/12/2019 04:13 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | in 2007 and 2008 I quit on january 1st and made it 8 months and 9 months respectively. end of summer seemed to be my downfall so 2009 I quit on 26th september so that by new year i would be over the worst of it. I also booked a teeth cleaning session at the dentist for 26th and had the motivation to keep my new clean shiny teeth tar free which helped a lot. money was less of a factor but for the first few months I put aside the cash that would have been spent on cigs until there was a meaningful sum and that felt good too. 10 years clean this year with no slip ups. YOU CAN DO IT BRO! |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 77723401 United States 06/12/2019 05:21 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | made a decision to be smoke free or at least vaping on april 1st and told myself I didn't want to be smoking on my birthday.... was drinking with friend ran out of beers, walked down to corner store they had a vape pen... 2 packs of ciggs and a pen for 9.50$ said wtf can I lose? 2 packs of my ciggs cost 22.50$ haven't smoked a real cigg since..... just the blue pen.... it spits leaks and sometimes the pods come broken.... but it sure beats smoking the real thing. I still crave the real thing but I don't think that will ever go away but my house smells good, my clothes smell good. I have money in my pocket from week before I can breathe better my pets probably love it as well since I was smoking two packs a day... I can taste food and smell things again...and I don't need to run out into a snow storm or some shit to feed my addiction.. and now after 2 months I think im just gonna quit these things too..... and be free of addiction and slavery to a shitty drug that doesn't even get you high. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 77547675 United States 06/12/2019 08:15 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Nortriptyline. It's an older antidepressant. I was a heavy 20+ year smoker and found that after being on Nortriptyline for about six weeks I wanted to quit smoking. Never had really wanted to before. I had a couple of weak moments especially right before my year anniversary after quitting smoking, but I got through it (barely) without smoking or vaping and it has now been five years with zero cigarettes. I have no desire to ever smoke again, something I would have never thought would be possible! In total I was on Nortriptyline (moderate dosage) for abpit two years. My urge to smoke after the one year mark has been almost nonexistant. I also read the Carr Book on Quitting Smoking shortly after quitting. Good luck to anyone trying to quit. You really can do it! |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 77380852 United States 06/12/2019 08:20 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Agree! Stay away...I used that twice and it really messed with me. My whole personality changed, I became depressed and just plain weird. Back to normal now but that stuff is EVIL. I switched to vaping and never looked back. I then quit vaping and now chew the gum occasionally. |

Just a little weed each day, maybe a little edibles but not much, not fond of the edibles much. Just say no when you wanna smoke, get pissed at the companies for abusing all of us humans. you "are stronger" than you think. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77547675 I had the same urge about 8 months after I quit using chew tobacco. It lasted for about 2 days. I am 1 year and 6 months done and no chew urge. Smoking may be a different story, but I used to smoke cigs too. I quit those easy enough because I preferred to chew and the nicotine was the culprit in both. |
